Big news of the day is that it appears thqt Bill Belichick is going to be the next UNC HC. It's comes with his son Steve being named the coach in waiting. Personally I hate that if I'm a UNC fan. How many times has that ever worked out? Can BB relate to college kids? He wasn't a HOF coach without Tom Brady. Will he have a QB who is ghe college version of Brady? It just seems risky, but it will certainly put a lot of eyes on UNC football.
I think he is going to have a tough time with football players in the chaos that is college football today.
Rich Rod back home? Another big surprise. Former West Virginia coach Rich Rodriguez is finalizing a deal to return to the country roads where he experienced his greatest success as a head coach, sources told ESPN on Wednesday. Rodriguez, the current head coach at Jacksonville State, has emerged as the target to be the Mountaineers' new coach, per sources, and a deal was expected to come together in the near future.
Re Belichick — Bill Walsh retired from the 49ers after winning multiple Super Bowls but then returned to football to coach at Stanford. If I remember correctly, he did well at Stanford although it was a different era.
Longhorns lose a couple of backup edge rushers to the Portal. That sucks, not that they were critical pieces to the defense but they could contribute. But the Portal is set up so that if you are leaving and want to enroll some place in January you need to get it done in December. As previously mentioned, UT has seen plenty of transfer portal departures within its defensive front seven already. Finkley joins Tausili Akana as the Longhorn edge rushers to announce their entries into the portal ahead of next week's College Football Playoff matchup against Clemson. Steve Sarkisian and staff were able to recruit a pair of four-star edge prospects in Lance Jackson and Smith Orogbo for their No. 1 ranked 2025 recruiting class, so those incoming freshmen should be able to come in and fill those gaps immediately.
Army v Navy. I always go for the Navy having served great years in San Diego. But this year I have become such a big fan of the Army QB, Bryson Daily, what a year this kid has had and i'd like to see him finish it on top. BTW the Army OL won the Joe Moore Award, pretty impressive.
Navy dominating so far on both sides of the ball. Up 14-0 2nd qtr. Navy defense is dominating that Joe Moore Ol of Army.
Doesn't look like there will be an Independence Bowl this year. A victim of a massive exit to the Portal. Charles Huff (Marshall HC ) left for the Southern Miss job, and tons of players went into the portal., so now the university doesn't feel like they can really field a team (36 player so far in the portal) Their opponent was supposed to be Army, but it now may be too late to find another opponent.
I see that ESPN is reporting that La.Tech is likely to replace Marshall i see that La.Tech is 5-7 so they have to make an exception for them to play in the bowl.
Navy 31-13 with about 4 minutes left. Game set and match. Turn out the lights the party is over. The fat lady is singing!! Middies outplayed the Army in every phase of the game.
