Irish women didn't make the College Cup, losing in the elite 8 at Stanford. But we have a lot of freshmen who started and the future looks bright for the team. The standout was Izzy Engle who is a semi-finalist for the Herman Trophy. Quite an achievement for a freshman.

KANSAS CITY – United Soccer Coaches and the Missouri Athletic Club (MAC) announced the 15 women’s semifinalists for the 2024 MAC Hermann Trophy, based on voting by NCAA Division I women’s soccer coaches. To no surprise for Notre Dame women’s soccer fans, freshman sensation Izzy Engle was amongst the standouts on the list.

The MAC Hermann Trophy is the most coveted individual honor in NCAA Division I soccer and has been awarded annually since 1967.

Irish Women's basketball played a thrilling OT game vs #4 Texas and came away with a 80-70 win. Hannah Hildalgo was spectacular.

I just happened to catch the second half and it was an exciting game. Texas could not seem to get the ball in the basket in OT. A great win for the Irish!

if I was on that team and sitting in that room when he spoke, I'd be fired up. Heck, I'm sitting at my computer and I'm fired up.

Men take care of Syracuse today, 69-64. Irish out shot them from the 3 point line, the 'Cuse were o-fer and that was the difference. Neither team though is very good, Irish couldn't defend the paint today, if Syracuse could have shot something from 3 it's a different game.

Irish women got a 30 point but sloppy win vs Syracuse today. They started slow and were a turnover machine, but got it together and from the 2nd qtr on they dominated Syracuse. Kate Koval had to leave late in the 4th qtr with some sort of foot problem, that's bad news if she can't play this week vs UCONN or is limited. The big 3 of Citron, Miles and Hildalgo put up almost 70 points.

    UCONN Thursday night is huge.

I was at the game, the first game of 1991, hot as heck, over 90. I just reminisced about it with a neighbor earlier. My imaginative memory expanded the number players he dragged to "two and possibly three". Oops. It was "only" one , but he dragged him about 25 yards. That part I got right.

;) One of my Purdue colleagues just said that this game might be hard for the reversible jacket crowd. :)

Tickets for the first playoff game in SB a little pricey don’t you think?
As of Sunday night, the cheapest tickets on the resale market to attend the first-ever College Football Playoff game in South Bend were $1,233 per person, per Gametime Tickets. The location of those tickets was in the upper corner of section 115

The long range forecast for gameday is a high of 34 with overcast skies and 24 percent chance of precipitation. Undoubtedly by gametime the temp will be in the upper 20's. I'm guessing by gametime they'll be going for less than a hundred. Me, I'll be on a ship in the gulf stream watching it on a tv in a lounge ordering nachos.

I'm very surprised at some of the predictions about Notre Dame, more than a few think we can make it to the title game. I think we are a very good team, with enough flaws though that it seems unlikely to me. I just want to beat IU and see what happens.
