Ohio State started practice yesterday, September 23. New rules allow practice to begin 42 days prior to first scheduled game. Hall of Fame games and exhibitions games do not count. Everything seems to be changing anymore, more games and ticket prices.

Interesting move by the new PAC 12. The Pac-12 is adding Gonzaga as a member in all sports the school plays starting in July 2026, the conference announced Tuesday. Shocking, UVA coach, Tony Bennett, resigned effective immediately. Very odd timing to resign. Virginia men's basketball coach Tony Bennett will announce his immediate retirement Friday, the school announced. Bennett, 55, was set to begin his 16th season with the Cavaliers in less than three weeks, with the program opening the campaign against Campbell on Nov. 6. His dad took Wisconsin to the F4 for the first time in school history but then retired 3 games into the next season citing burnout as the reason. His dad later returned to coach at Washington State for several years and was succeeded by Tony. Tony is not as intense as his father but perhaps like his dad, he left because nothing was left in his tank. Another theory is this was premeditated. He rehired his long time assistant coach Ron Sanchez who left V to become head coach at Charlotte. Resigning now gives Sanchez a full season to earn the HC job in the same way Bill Guthridge earned the HC job at North Carolina when Dean Smith abruptly retired. The other theory is that he was simply fed up with the NIL/open transfer world of college basketball. Sad to see him gone as he is a class act and often outperformed conference bluebloods Duke and NC in the ACC with less talented teams that played hellacious defense.
