Thought it was time for this topic given that we've had media days and fall camps will be opening next week.

I heard one thing from the B1G media days, besides the dearth of returning Starting QB'S, most of the eventual starters will be transfers. Something like 15 of the 18.

Kind of where we are in college football these days

Talk about over kill when it comes to scoreboards. LSU has installed a new monster. Taco Bell commercials. right in your face.

Hate the noisy distracting new scoreboards. Hype and ads.

No argument here. Both are distracting.

During a meeting Tuesday, power conference commissioners finalized new roster-size limits that pave the way for athletic departments to distribute millions of dollars in new scholarships to athletes in, most notably, football, baseball and softball. Conference officials with knowledge of the figures spoke to Yahoo Sports under condition of anonymity.

As part of the new revenue-sharing model — beginning in 2025-26 academic year — by-sport scholarship restrictions are eliminated, and schools are permitted to offer scholarships to the entirety of their rosters. The new roster limit figures are not final until the approval of House settlement terms.

Football, with a current scholarship restriction of 85, will now have a roster limit of 105 — a 20-scholarship increase for those schools willing to give the maximum. In an important note for football, the 105 may not be a requirement until the start of the competitive season, giving coaches flexibility to go beyond that figure during preseason camp, for instance.

Baseball, with a current scholarship restriction of 11.7, is expected to have a roster of 34. Scholarship spots for softball and volleyball, each currently at 12, will increase to 25 and 18, respectively.

Don, this is Terry's topic. No posts since July 24, so it was far enough down the list of topics that you missed it.

Not good news for Michigan Football, but it's just a draft and a lot can still change. And of course the nCAA could leave this hanging over their heads for the seaons like they did last year.

New Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore is one of seven members from the 2023 football program accused of violating NCAA rules in a draft of the NCAA's notice of allegations obtained by ESPN.

The draft, which could be subject to change, states Moore could face a show-cause penalty and possibly a suspension for allegedly deleting a thread of 52 text messages with former Michigan staffer Connor Stalions in October 2023 on the same day that media reports revealed Stalions was leading an effort to capture the playcalling signals of future opponents.

U-M's Moore violated NCAA rules, NOA draft says

Hopefully I won’t get bounced from the Skybox pick em contest because of Moore’s trigger finger on his phone’s delete button…

Not a chance, Bobda. Your presence always adds to the fun. You might want to think about applying for the future open position of head coach. I’ll be happy to provide you with a reference. :D

    Harbaugh on the UM situation.

"Never lie. Never cheat. Never steal. I was raised with that lesson," he said at a brief news conference, appearing to read from a prepared statement. "I have raised my family on that lesson. I have preached that lesson to the teams that I have coached. No one is perfect. If you stumble, you apologize and you make it right. Today, I do not apologize. I did not participate, was not aware nor complicit in those said allegations. So, it's back to work and attacking with an enthusiasm unknown to mankind."

Looks like he has made his stand? How this will affect the forthcoming penalties to Michigan remains to be seen! The media will have a field day.:(

Not a big deal in the overall scheme of things... but still interesting.

In a deal that will give the university $1.2 million each year over the next five years, the stadium will become Pitbull Stadium and according to The Athletic’s Chris Vannini, the rapper will be a part of multiple promotional tools and initiatives with FIU, including:

    • An FIU anthem created by Pitbull (I’m assuming it’ll be similar to his hit song “Fireball”)
    • Pitbull being named the official entrepreneur of FIU athletics (whatever that means)
    • A “Pitbull-affiliated performer” at all games (no idea, but sure)
    • He gets to use the stadium up to 10 days per year
    • Gets two suites for all football games
Pretty sick perks for an exchange of a little over $5 million, but still there’s a lot of questions to be asked. What does he mean by official entrepreneur? The anthem has to be really good, or else this whole thing is null and void.

FIU to play in ‘Pitbull Stadium’ after Mr. Worldwide deal

I'm guessing (hoping) they vetted him thoroughly enough to confirm he's a good dude with a solid reputation. I wouldn't know. They also must feel that this is the best (only?) offer they'll get. If all of that is true, $6 million over 5 years is a windfall.

Pitbull is a internationally famous singer, so not much vetting was probably done.

He won’t have to deal with penalties at Michigan.
