    TRY AJ'S RECOMMENDATIONS!

Callaway is here for Demo day with their Tour Van. I'll let everyone know about the new FTi's and 5's along with the new x20 irons. Obviously for those that love the King's game. Jiffy, get you order ready.

I'll be interested in what you think about that new "square" club...the FT-i. I hit the new square Sasquatch and I actually liked it but it's way too ugly for me to look at for the rest of the season so I passed. I want to hit the new Ping Rapture, with a name like that I sort of want it in my bag! :)

I am definitely itching to put a new driver in my bag, even though there is nothing wrong with the Cobra 447 that I currently have in the bag. I'm also thinking of ditching the VFT 6-PW and getting some new irons. I like the looks of the fusion widesole and the new Cobra S9 irons. I have metal shafts and being over 60 I think it's time to go graphite.

I have 3-4-5 hybrids from Nickdent and I hit them better than any club in my bag.

    Alright, results are in:

    (1) FTi Driver: I hit the 9.0 stiff, neutral version. Every shot I hit went exactly where my feet were pointed or where I pushed my hands in the swing. Wierd sound, kinda like hittin' a metal treetrunk. Ball just explodes off the face. Great distance. Absolutely couldn't work the ball at all unless you hit a terrible shot. And believe me, you need to hit a terrible shot with these to not hit them straight. The club is exactly as advertised. STRAIGHT.

    (2) FT5 Driver. For you traditional stlye folks, who want forgiveness and more distance and still would like to work the ball, RUN OUT NOW AND BUY THIS CLUB. I hit the same specs as the FTi, and absolutely hammered the ball. Huge hang time with great carry. This club works and it works big time. If you want a new driver for X-Mas, start beggin for this one.

    (3) New X20 irons, and X Forged irons. Keep 'em Ely. The XTour from last year still outperformed 'em both to include the X-18's IMHO. Too inconsistent. The Forged almost plays like a blade and feels horrible when you miss hit it. The X20 are just a new style of X-18's that i feel they've missed the mark with.

NEXT MONTH WILL BE TITLEIST/SRIXSON REVIEW.... SEE YA THEN.

I don't want to work the ball, but I do!

So what you're saying is if I can get lined up with the FT-i I should be good to go!! 8)

So where was all this "straight" equipment before today as I hacked it all over Balboa Park?

Gip, what's your definition of "hack"? You've seen me play, so you know it's different from mine.

Classical muni. Old clubhouse, a variety of players and swings, patchy fairways and greens with moe bumps and grinds than a burlesque show. Pretty hilly than goodness I had my fat ass in a cart. Would have had a decent score if I'd made half of the 6 5footers I missed. That 4th hole dogleg up the hill was a bitch.

Doc, The Fushion wide soles were actually pretty good. I hit them Hi but also had great distance. Very forgiving club, but would not be very good off dry, tight lies or close shaved fairways.

I like to play courses under 6500 yds now. Can't get home in 2 on the 5's and rarely can get home on par 4's over 410. Shot an 82 today which is about average these days.
