Old foe Marquette is comming to town. I can see Digger and Al McGuire on the sidelines, in my mind. It was quite a series when those guys were the coaches.

Irish have been playing very well at home and have 17 game winning streak going, a win on Sat will be huge because it will get us a bye in the BE Tourney and most likely guarantee us a NCAA bid.

It's the big Nat'l Game on TV as well, about 75% of the country will get the game.

    Go Irish!!

What time does this game tip off?
I've got to watch the Aggies castrate Baylor at 12:30, but after that I'm free for more Tourney scouting!

2:30 ABC...so you are really serious about this aren't you! Any predictions on the little contest in Austin 2-28? :)

    Not really.
We have the better team, and are deeper, but it's at your place where I'm sure Durant will again receive the "Jordan" treatment by the refs.
We do foul a lot, but some of those calls in the first game were ludicrous.

I think we can and should win, but can't predict it... not on the road.

(If D Sloan continues his progress, and is on the floor a lot with Acie... you guys are in trouble.)

If you are an Irish fan and missed that game today, shame on you! It was a terrific game. Marquette came out of gate very hot, hit their first 10 shots I think. But the Irish withstood the onslaught and slowly chipped away at the double digit early lead and lead at halftime and never looked back. It was a pretty hotly contested match with Tom Crean nearly comming to blows with the officals a couple of times. He had to be restrained.

We are pretty much assured a 1st round bye in the BE tourney now and a NCAA bid. I would imagine we will end up a 8 or 9 seed.

    Go Irish.

Congratulations Terry that was a big win.

We were gone all day swimming with the Manatee's on the West Coast of Florida with several of our grandchildren and their parents. We didn't get back until late and I was distressed to hear my Gators lost again, that makes 2/3. While our NCAA invitation is not in question, our #1 seed may be.

Glad your team is doing so well.

Thanks Bill, our expectations for this team are not as high as yours for the Gators or Scotts for the Aggies or the Buckeyes for their team. But it would be nice to win a couple of NCAA games! They have been a good team to watch this year, our young freshman Luke Harangoody is a load sort of like Big Baby was last year at LSU...well maybe not that good..but still very good freshman year.

    Terry,

A great game indeed, did not see the entire contest, but what I saw was two teams really competing.

After all that talk, I didn't get into the ND/Marq game until the end. I kept flipping around expecting it to be anywhere but ABC.

Good win for the Irish, and ensures you are firmly in. Marquette seems to be back-sliding at the wrong time of year. They are still easily in, but their seed will not be as tasty...

I just love this point of the season. You get to see who is really on their game when so much is riding on each win or loss.

While I'm not sure that either tOSU or Wisconsin deserve to be #1 it is interesting that tomorrow (ok, today) will be the first time in history that two #1's (split poll) have played each other.

    Stu,

Interesting situation for us. I feel pretty good about our chances here at home.

However, look at what happened to the Gators yesterday, at the hands of LSU in Baton Rogue.

Out here in San Diego we got the USF-Gonzaga game. I was hoping that since the Gonzaga game was running ahead of the ND game that they might have some bonus coverage when they finished early. Of course the game went into OT.
Maybe the Irish can actually win a game in the BE tourney this year.

gipper.. one of the things I've never agreed with Brey about is the irrelevance of the BET. When he came here he said you only have 1 run in you at the end of the year and he'd rather it be in the NCAA than the BET, as a result in the past he's treated the BET games as win great if not so what...and guess what it's been a lot more losses than wins. That's on him, if you want to win games you have to prepare the guys mentally and physically to win, you can't let them have the mentality that the games don't really mean that much.

UConn won the BET the last time they won the NCAA tourney as well, and have gone further pretty much every year than the Irish in both the BET and NCAA tourney.

I hope he's talking winning the BET tourney to this team, not lets go there as a warmup for the NCAA.

Hey gipper, have you ever thought of getting Sling Box for your laptop? It allows you to connect to your home TV over the internet and watch whatever is available back home. Wouldn't be worth it to me since I don't really travel all that much, but since you are married to a lady who takes you to the 4 corners of the earth on her business travels it might be worth it. :)

I hear you can watch ND games even overseas with slingbox. It sounds pretty good. I just woncer if the ND game was on in the Det. area orperhaps another game like a Michigan game was on.

ND game was on in Detroit. It was on in 75% of the country, only the West Coast and the Carolinas didn't get it.
