So Tim Anderson gets 6 games and Ramerez got 3 games... Stu do you remember this one? No I do not...Ramirez and Anderson should probably get the same suspension...but other stuff we don't know about may have been going on. I do know that Anderson had been chirping at the Tribe so much that the Umpire told him to knock it off...also that is the first time EVER that Ramirez has been ejected from a game. He plays hard and doesn't give the umps a bad time.
Trivia : Who was the last Brooklyn Dodger to play in MLB? Answer: It is Bob Aspromonte who is also the first hitter for the then Colt 45's.
Dodger Dog would be all over this Dodger stuff. List of living Brooklyn Dodgers players[edit] Bob Aspromonte, born June 19, 1938 Tommy Brown, born December 6, 1927 Carl Erskine, born December 13, 1926 Jim Gentile, born June 3, 1934 Fred Kipp, born October 1, 1931 Sandy Koufax, born December 30, 1935
That kid had an incredible 1st game while I was in the Milwaukee area. Made 2 great catches in the outfield in his first game.
Houston Colt .45's first game highlights. Highlights of the game, played on April 10th, 1962, were shot by a KTRK photographer and preserved in our film archive. Houston's Bob Aspromonte delivered the first hit and scored the first run. Colt . 45 right fielder Roman Mejias delivered the power with two 3-run homers and Bobby Shantz pitched a complete game.
huh...turns out that Aspromonte only played one game for the Brooklyn Dodgers! Bob Aspromonte. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y. 1938, he had somewhat of a peculiar carrer. In September of 1956 he appeared in one game as a pinch hitter for his hometown Dodgers. It would be their penultimate season in Brooklyn. And it would be his only game as a Brooklyn Dodger. Afterwards, he spent four years in the minor leagues before being called up after the franchise moved to L.A. where he spent short stints. In 1962, he was designated to the expansion draft and became an inaugural member of the Houston Colt45s (later Named the Astros.) He was the leadoff hitter in their first game. Thus making him the first batter in the history of the franchise. He became a fan favorite for the fledgling club, and was known for his solid defense and occasional clutch hitting. He spent time with the Braves in 69 and 70. And ended his career with the Mets in 71. Ironically, (despite playing only one game there) he is the last Brooklyn Dodger to retire.
Terry, I marked your above post a winner because it caused me to reminisce about JO'Co. Great memories.
He gave the ball to the little girl to his right....the girl and her family were from Arkansaw...nice folks...her big brother was pissed she got the ball...then daddy got him a Dr. PEPPER....he was better then.
He was right though, poor girl is now saddled with that middle name forever...I mean who names their daughter Mookie!!
I worked in a call center for years, especially during the implementation of Medicare Part D. Trust me, you can do A LOT worse. lol
Sad to hear about Ohtani's injury. He's a generational player and this injury is serious in that it's not his first injury like this. He's already had 1 TJ and not many pitchers come back and are the same from a 2nd TJ surgery.
That is one costly injury. A team would be foolish to place much emphasis on his pitching going forward.
It's funny...a couple of days ago before his injury the Guardians play-by-play announcers were talking about his upcoming contract, how much it would be, where he would end up, etc...and they agreed that, amazing athlete that he is, he would not be able to keep up that level of work load. Also mentioned that he needed to be in a six man rotation. I hope his injury doesn't hurt his career but I wonder if he's done pitching. Tommy John surgery tends to rehab longer and harder the second time around.
Dubon and Altuve hit back to back homers, twice, to beat the Rangers today. A much needed win after getting swept at home by the Yankee's. This AL West is going to be a dog fight. Mariners and Astros are tied at the top and the Rangers are 1 game back. The Rangers get Eovaldi back to start against the Astros tomorrow night, that's big for them.
This series was huge for both the Astros and the Rangers in the battle for the AL West. Astros coming off an unforgiveable sweep by the Yankee's desperately needed to go to Arlington and take care of business with the Rangers. Well that was an understatement, they just beat the crap out of them. Out Scored them 39-10 in the 3 game series, the ball was flying out of the Park, literally! Astros now have a slightly easier schedule than either the Mariners or the Rangers. Now we need to take care of business and win the Division.
