We trun the corner into June this week. Time to archive the Winter topic.

Irish Lacrosse is the National Champion, that's a nice way to start the summer.

I wish baseball was going to the NCAA but they aren't, The way they finished the season pretty much makes that very unlikely.

Softball was eliminated in the regionals.

Track has some chances at the NCAA's.

Hopefully it's a quiet time for the football, They'll be back on campus for summer session mid June and of course like the rest of the NCAA will be doing 7x7 and weight training getting ready for fall camp. Less than 100 days till we take the field in Dublin

Notre Dame Athletic Director, Jack Swarbrick, is slated to sit down with Tim Priester next week.

Should be an interesting interview. I doubt if anything earth shattering will come out of it though.

Some fans will be disappointed if Tim doesn't ask a bunch of gotcha questions, as they blame Swarbrick for just about anything.

One of the most common accusations against him is that most of his financial deals involve family members getting cushy jobs as part of the deal.

When I think of…the proposed interview by Irish Illustrated of Notre Dame Vice President/Director of Athletics Jack Swarbrick, it’s been a long-time coming as Swarbrick has had another whirlwind spring with NBC and apparel contracts, ACC issues, the ever-changing landscape of NIL, the transfer portal dilemma Notre Dame faces, and facility upgrades begging to be addressed.

These and several other topics Notre Dame fans have wanted Swarbrick to address will be discussed late next week when Irish Illustrated sits down for our first one-on-one with him since late last summer.

Irish picked up a DL this week that while not highly rated has most fans excited. He's Canadian but is currently playing in Fla

Not sure if we'll have some more coming soon as this weekend was the "Irish Invasion" an annual recruiting weekend that you have to be invited to participate. Lots of targets at ND this weekend.

Notre Dame lost one and then quickly regained a defensive tackle in their 2024 class when Sean Sevillano Jr.‍ committed to the Irish today. He’s a big body who projects to play nose tackle for Notre Dame.

Playing at Clearwater Academy (Florida), but coming from Winnipeg, Manitoba, there’s still a lot of room for Sevillano’s game to grow, but he’s a surprising athlete for his position and displays a love of the game on the field that shines through when watching him.

    Height: 6’2”

    Weight: 320

    Projected Position: Defensive tackle

    ISD Grade: 89 (3-star)

    National Average Grade: 86.3 (3-star)

You’re lucky on this RB Terry, I heard A&M thought they were getting him.

Yes that's a big pickup for the Irish. Always good to have some Texas kids on the roster.

Lufkin (Texas) high school four-star running back Kedren Young is the latest class of 2024 prospect to commit to the University of Notre Dame. The 5-10, 220-pounder chose the Fighting Irish over Texas A&M, Baylor, Missouri and TCU.

Per 247Sports, Young is a four-star recruit, the No. 22 running back nationally and No. 53 prospect in the state of Texas. The 247Sports Composite Rankings list him as the No. 207 overall player recruit in America, No. 14 talent at his position this cycle and No. 41 player in his home state.

The Irish RB coach appears to be a very good recruiter.

That's too bad. There are hundreds of morons on Irish bulletin boards who know everything that there is about being ND athletic director....and they go and hire some slouch from NBC.

I don't either Don. I have to imagine that the most important asset for the ND brand is its TV contract. Looking at it from that point of view, it's a hiring that makes some sense. Like me he's an ND grad, unlike me he was magna cum laude. He has an extensive background in golf especially the PGA. How that's going to help him swim with the conference sharks is anyone's guess.

His hiring has been met with mostly negative comments. Many are shocked and dismayed that there was no search and that Swarbrick got to pick his successor.

So obviously the morons believe that Swarbrick woke up last Tues. morning, decided to retire and hired their first one who called him that morning. I'm sure he's been waiting to retire for some time and I'm sure he put a lot of thought into who could follow him. As I understand it Bevacqua is going do be doing an internship for a year under Jack before he takes over. Seems like a seamless transition and a good way to go.

The idiots making those comments are empty-headed ninnies (apologies to "ELF"). Seriously, why pay attention to bozos who knee-jerk react negatively to such an obviously well thought out plan of succession and well-chosen successor to the highly accomplished retiring AD? Just. Go. Away.

Tim Priester has a very positive look at the career of Jack Swarbrick. It's not paywalled so it's a good read, certainly his detractors will brush it off as a puff piece by one of his lackies. Still worth a read.

Swarbrick’s list of accomplishments during his tenure in athletic administration is unprecedented in Notre Dame history, particularly amidst the most volatile time in intercollegiate athletics history, including the challenging pandemic of 2020.

For my two cents this appears to be a very good choice for a new AD.
