George... <t>Mustain is in for the shock of his life thinking he is going to get snaps there. Sanchez in the wings and a very good commit they just signed.<br/> Now the receiver probably will do real well there.</t>
George, while you can only play eleven at one time you can also set up rotations where more than 11 play significant time. That was true with our defensive line this year where 6 players rotated in and out and all got significant playing time. I understand why good players want to go to a winning program where they can play and get noticed.
Corey, I think it just as valid comparison as saying let's see what Meyer does with his own players. Two things he has already shown is that he can do more with Zooks players than Zook did, and two of our most important players this year were true freshmen, Percy Harvin and Tim Tebow, both whom Meyer recruited. Also a number of special teams plays during the season were from his players. He has also had two recruiting classes in a row that were ranked either first or second. I think he's proved himself. And by the way he had proved himself enough at Utah that Notre Dame wanted him as their coach. Putting it together I'll say again he's proved himself.
I must be getting older, Bill. Back in the day I hated every play that I was not on the field. Being on a winner is great but actually being on the field is much better. And you can get noticed no matter where you play. Without going to Google can you tell me where Jerry Rice, Phil Simms, Walter Payton, Chad Pennington or Jack lambert played college ball. If you can you're doing good. The scouts had no trouble finding any of them.
 Mississippi Valley State, Morehead State, Jackson State, Marshall and I forget where Jack Lambert went...
Who was the Gator QB, under Spurrier, who was a backup and not likely to start and he transfered to Marshall for 1 year and was the starter and had a great year? I think they were 1AA at the time so he could play right away.
George, the only one I remembered was Jerry Rice, and you might also add Terry Bradshaw to the list. However tell me how many other players from Mississippi Valley State made it in the NFL. Sorry but I do see why players sign with the bigger programs, I would sure rather play for Florida, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Tennessee and many others in from of big loud crowds on Sat than at Mississippi Valley State. And I would bet that in most cases those players went to those schools it wasn't for playing time but in most cases that for whatever reason they were not able to attend one of the major colleges.
And who was the guy behind Kresser, who became #2 after his transfer to Marshall? Brian Schottenheimer.
What happened to Kresser? I remember the line at the time was that he was a great QB who could start anywhere but UF (who was ahead of him?) and that he had NFL talent. Did he even get drafted and play in the NFL?
