Turns out the SEC is really a baseball conference!
Yikes... if this holds up there's going to be some in conference bloodshed.

My team will have a hard time topping the 2022 season... that was a special team that really gelled at about the 1/3 season point and was fearless going on from there.

With a new coach this season I'm not sure what to expect from the Irish. Coach Shawn Stiffler comes to us from VCU where he was very successful, but of course that was at a lower level vs lesser competition so we won't know till the team hits the field. Our non-conference schedule isn't especially rigorous so even if we get off to a good start we won't know anything till we get into the ACC schedule.

We do go to Wake Forrest mid March for a 3 game series so that will tell us a lot about this 2023 team.

He has appeared to have hit the ground running and recruiting, but we of course aren't getting the "5 star" talent that you'll see at those top SEC programs. The coach who left for FSU was pretty good at maximizing the talent he had, we'll have to wait and see on the new guy.

Looking at the full top 25, I am a bit surprised that the Longhorns aren't in the Top 25. We have history, tradition, facilities and there is a load of baseball talent in the State of Texas. We should always be one to the top 25 or better teams.

Hey Scott is Connor Weigman going to play baseball this year? He was consider as an early round pick in the MLB draft coming out of HS.

Both Drew Hensen of Michigan and Jeff Samardzja of Notre Dame were able to mange both at a high level in college.

Terry, I haven't heard one way or the other, but I suspect no.
New OC will need full attention this spring.

Holy smokes that is a big boy!!
You made me curious, so I checked the Aggie roster - we have 2 pitchers who are 6'7" but both are righties... so not quite as intimidating as RJ.

Being a typical Canadian kid, he also played hockey although an article in the Athletic noted that it was hard for his team to find size 20 skates.

Here we go gentlemen! Season starts today!
I have high hopes for the Aggies returning to Omaha. If they can stay healthy this is a very talented bunch of fellas with outstanding coaching that can do some damage again.
    PLAY BALL!!!

Good article on the Agggies in today's Houston Chronicle. Expressed a similar sentiment as what Scott expressed. I'm still a bit disappointed that Conner Weigman isn't playing baseball, the kid had game.

Longhorns go to Blue Bell March 28th to take on the Aggies. In the mean time we open today as part of the College Baseball Showdown at Globe Life Field. Play Arkansas at 8pm tonight, then Missouri on Sat and finishing with Vandy on Sunday. Longhorns start the season unranked Ark and Vandy are top 10. We'll have a pretty good picture of the team after the weekend. Although in 2021 we went 0-3 in this same tourney setup to open the season and ended up 50-14 and 1 win shy of the CWS Final. So who knows.

Irish travel to Nashville to take on Lipscomb in a 3 game series. Nobody knows what to expect from this years team, last years team was a tough never quit squad not overly talented. But still made the CWS with that dramatic win over Tenn. So we'll have to just wait and see, Irish fans right now don't have the same optimism as Scott does about his Ag's.

Terry, that's a nice tourney to start the year!
Baseball is so dependent on so many factors, rankings don't mean much, especially early.
