the Jifster sends me information on this but no way to get one!!! Rhode Island's New York System Weiner!! Nebraska has it's Runza's and Chicago has it's Slyders (White Castle), we have Chili Dogs here in Texas....but I want a Weiner!!
When it comes to meat on a bun, Chicago has more than just sliders. It's also known for deep fried polish sausage (Maxwell Street Polish) and pork chop sandwiches.
Dirty water dogs got their names from the kettles of murky looking water the dogs are boiled in. I've seen cleaner water in my toilet but they do taste good. I was in line at one down in lower Manhattan a few years back... the guy in front of me at the cart spun around with three of them in his arms like cord wood and they were loaded with the works. He was smiling and said "man, you can't beat this". It was Kevin Bacon.
Fried Polish Sausage on a Bun vs New York Service Wennie.... I wonder which one would kill me quicker!!!
Here in Detroit we have what it called a Coney Island. It's a dog with chilie, onions and mustard. How it got its name, I do not know. The last time I had a dog near Coney Island, it had sauerkraut on it.
1) hey...what the hell are the indys' on those meter dogs? 2) sliders for Chi?????? maybe at the "Billy Goat" but then it's a cheeburger.
