Astros Sweep!!! I didn't think it was possible to go to the Bronx and sweep the Yankee's. Pressly was sensational in this Series! Phillies are hot as a firecracker, they remind me of last years Braves.
Remember when I said we don't need to be concerned about the Phillies winning the World Series? Well (in my best Gilda Radner voice).........Never mind. I actually am pulling for the Phillies, although I don't want to see a recession. I'm a lifelong NL guy, with rare exceptions in past WS, and I'm a fan of Kyle Schwarber going back to his days at IU when he helped them get to the CWS.
The Phillies are a hot team with a lot of confidence. Unlike the Yankees their big guns produced in the playoffs. Buttttttttttttttttt. From NBC Sports The Astros have a few distinct advantages other than home-field. For one, they're the most complete team in the majors. They won 106 games and are 7-0 in the playoffs after sweeping the Mariners and Yankees. And Houston will be better set up with pitching in Game 4, if not Games 3 and 4. The Astros will likely roll with Justin Verlander and Framber Valdez in the first two games in Houston Friday and Saturday. Some will point to Verlander's 0-6 record and 5.68 ERA in seven World Series starts as an indication that he can't win the big one, but that's nonsense. He's been his typical dominant self in his other 160 playoff innings and is a surefire Hall of Famer. At age 39, Verlander had the best season of his career, which is saying a whole lot because he won AL MVP in 2011 with 24 wins and 251 innings pitched. He went 18-4 with a 1.75 ERA and 0.83 WHIP this season, leading the American League in all three categories and the majors in the latter two. No question the Astros are the odds-on favorite by a long shot. If this was football, basketball, or hockey, I'd say it's over before it starts, but it's baseball. Let's play!
Astros haven't fared well vs NL East teams. We were favorites over both the Nats and the Braves. These Phillies remind me of the Braves. Braves were .500 at midseason but got healthy and hot at the end. Phillies were 3rd in the NL East but have gotten hot in the playoffs.
Although I'm a firm NL fan and am cheering for the Phils, I'll support and cheer for this ND alum and member of the Astros.

JV sat too long, that was a big inning for the Phils, they made him work a lot and got some good hits. 5-3 Astros. We're going to need more runs vs this Phillie club.
Well JV won't get his 1st WS win tonight, he's O-6 in 7 WS starts. Don't understand it. He's so dominant in the regular season.
Huge win for the Phils vs. the likely AL Cy Young winner. Hard to believe JV is 0-6 in WS starts. Phils are still the underdog. Astros relief pitching is relentless in the post season. Wheeler and Valdez are game 2 starters.
Astros win, 5-2, Frambler Valdez had a great outing. Jose Altuve finally had a good game at the plate with 3 hits. We are going to need him to keep going. Back to Philly where they have been dominant in the playoffs this year.
Are the Astros at it again? FOX alludes to one player using an illegal bat. Video of Frambler Valdez rubbing something off the heel of his glove between pitches and then rubbing his thumb on his pants as he leaves the mound. Maybe it's just paranoia.
