    Tearful goodbye from Faldo yesterday.
    Good luck to him.

I never really liked him as a player, he was of course a great player, but just never cared for him.

As an announcer I have grown to really like him, not as much as I liked Johnny Miller though.

Playoffs start this weekend at Memphis with the St Judes Championship. Only 2 tournaments leading up to East Lake.

I saw where 122 of the top 125 will be playing.

Of the 125 players qualified for the FedEx St. Jude Championship, Daniel Berger (injury), Tommy Fleetwood (personal), and Lanto Griffin (injury) will not compete.

Fleetwood isn't likely to hurt by not playing as he is #48 in the standings and the top 70 move on to the BMW.

Looks like the PGA won the first hole in court over LIV players. Apparently if you leave GM for Ford, you're not entitled to go to the GM Christmas Party.

Looks like Australian Cameron Smith is the next to go for a $100 million bonus. He'll compete in the FedEx cup and then play exhibition golf for the duration.

I am sorry to see him go. With 54 hole tournaments and no cuts I wonder how big of a field they can have, shot gun starts to me are for club scrambles not Pro tournaments.

72 players if they go off as foursomes. Morning and afternoon tee times work for the PGA since they cut the field in half after 2 days.

Bubba Watson who has already signed with LIV but not played a tournament, resigned from the PGA Tour. This will open up a slot in the BMW next weekend. It was the right thing to do for him. I'll miss Bubba I liked his free swinging way of playing the game.

Yeah he was.fun to watch too. He can really manipulate the ball to do what he wants it to do.

Exciting finish today at the FedEx./ StJude. Glad to see Will get his 1st win.

On the penalty assessed on Cam Smith. I think it's time that the tour stops going back to film and assessing penalties after the fact.

I would agree that Cam and or his caddie should have known the rule, but he gained no advantage on the shot because his ball touched an arbitrary line on the grass.

Terry, I agree with the replay after the fact rulings should go away. I also think a lot of the rules need to have a "did they gain an advantage" filter. I agree with "play it as it lies" and all of that but some of the rules are just arbitrary at least it seems to me. Does the LIV play by the same rules of golf?

Cam Smith is out of the BMW this weekend with hip discomfort. Even though he's not playing he has enough points that he will be comfortably into the Final at East Lake.

This week one of the charity focuses is on the Evans Scholarship which sends young caddies to college.

Now none of the courses I play here or in Austin have caddies. Where do they have high school kids who caddy? Do they have them at your courses that you play?

I know at places like Pebble Beach they have professional caddies that you are required to utilize. I don't think they are high school kids though.

I expect that caddies will be at least available or maybe even required when I go to Pinehurst in September.

I caddied at a public course in high school in Va. Beach. That was a long time ago though. I haven't ever had to have a caddy but then I haven't played Pinehurst or Pebble either.

Cantlay is missing putts inside 5 feet suddenly. I can relate to that!

Lot of good drama down the stretch.

Will Adam Scott hang in there and squeeze into the top 30.
Can Cantlay win? Will Stallings get to his first win in forever
Can Scottie come from behind and get the win?

Well Adam Scott certainly made it interesting with a tee shot that leaves him with a lie that is very difficult, then he pulls the next one into the bunker which was predictable give how much above his feet. Then hits a spectacular bunker shot to save par and likely earn his way to Eastlake.

Then there is Cantlay who stands on the 18th tee with a one shot lead and promptly hits his drive in the bunker. Door was open for a bogey and a playoff, but he hit a great bunker shot and put it away with a solid par for the win.

Will Zalatoris is out of East Lake and the Presidents Cup as well. Too bad for the kid, he was really coming on and was definitely a threat to win the Cup.

They are saying he has 2 herniated disc's in his back. That is serious, Jason Day has never been the player he might have been with his back troubles.

Hope that they come up with a treatment plan for him that allows him to continue to play at a high level.
