MCG, Caldwell's second drop, he was wide open and may well have gone for a TD. But those things happen, he's played well for the Pats and was a big part of them beating S. Diego. I would say a big factor for the Pats losing this game was their defense becoming very tired. I hear that several of them had the flu during the week. But I would say the biggest factor was Peyton Manning and the way he played after throwing that interception. He was lights out.
Honestly..what a sore loser bill is. Did you see the interview after the game..the guys on the fox crew were just laughing at him. Caldwell didnt lose the game...the pats defence did. How could they let Manning just light them up drive after drive for the entire second half. What a choke job. To bad that wasnt the Super Bowl game itself..I'll bet my house that the one in 2 weeks wont top it. Congrats to Colt fans and to Peyton for finally getting the monkey off his back. A Great Defence vs A Great Offence..should be a decent superbowl( I havent seen a really exciting one since that titans/rams many years back).
Just wanted to add my congrats to Sid and the Colt fans. You too Matt. If you watched the game, Phil Simms was critical of Dungy going for two in the third period. But thanks to that 2 pt. conversion the Pats trailed by 4 at the end. This made a big difference in how the Pats had to operate in the last minute. The Indy O line will be the deciding factor in the SB. You just know that the Bears will be trying to get to him like the Steelers did last year.
Thanks, Gip. I haven't been this excited about pro football since the Colts first came to Indy the early 80s.
" would say a big factor for the Pats losing this game was their defense becoming very tired. I hear that several of them had the flu during the week. But I would say the biggest factor was Peyton Manning and the way he played after throwing that interception. He was lights out." I agree on that. Even the announcers commented that the 2nd Caldwell drop play would most likely have been stopped after a 7-8 yard gain and that's how it looked to me.
That was one of the best pro football games I've ever seen. I'm reading a book about John Unitas called Johnny U. John would have been proud of how Manning and the Colts pulled that game out. Congrats to all the Colt fans. As for the Pats, that defense is getting old, but any team with Tom Brady on it will always have a chance. PJ in Jersey
