Josh Lugg out for the Fiesta Bowl. He was injured in practice and had a "procedure" on his knee. Didn't say he tore his ACL. ISD has learned through multiple sources Notre Dame right tackle Josh Lugg will miss the Fiesta Bowl due to a knee injury suffered during last Tuesday's practice. According to a source, Lugg's injury did require surgery on Thursday, but the positive news for the Pittsburgh native is the recovery isn't expected to be extensive.
I I actually think it could be a good thing. Just like the positive side to Kyren being out is that Diggs and Estime get more work, same for Hamilton not playing. If it wasn't for the fact that I really want to win the game and get the New Years Bowl loss streak over with finally, I would actually welcome the young guys getting their playing time. Get ready for next year. Plus I think everyone wants to see Freeman get his first win. Sending us into the off season on a positive note.
I can't stretch my imagination far enough to see Williams bailing out as a positive. With Lugg we lose about three motion penalties. Hamilton has been gone so long that his absence is meaningless; the defense actually played better as the season wore on. I anxious to see more of Diggs and Estime but Williams is a big loss.
Irish band is a Covid Casualty, the University decided not to take the band due to the spread of Omicron. Not everybody is very happy about it. Irish Men's Basketball beat Pitt on the road in a close game 68-67. Always good to get 1) road win and 2) a road conference win.
Next game for both basketball teams has been postponed. Women v UVA and the men v Duke. Cam Hart has an apparent knee injury, suffered in practice. No word on its severity.
Irish are up at noon central time. The story is the Oklahoma State defense. Definitely one of the best or the best the Irish have faced this season. Can the OL hold up? No Kyren Williams is a big loss as he always seemed to find the smallest hole to run through and make some positive yards. Most of the Irish website writers of course pick the Irish, most pick us in a close game. I hope we get that win! End the season on a big positive and get Marcus Freeman off to a great start!
Well it won't help the Irish win today but they just landed a big time Safety for the 2023 class. Peyton Bowen just committed.
Per the 247Sports Composite Rankings, Bowen is the No. 59 overall player in the country, No. 4 safety nationally and No. 11 recruit in Texas from the 2023 class. 247Sports lists him as the No. 77 overall talent in America.
Perfect check by Jack Coan, TD pass to Chris Tyree. Irish 14-0 One worry is that so far we have no running game.
There were at least 4 critical missed tackles on that last OSU drive. That and a pathetic running attack spells problems the rest of the game.
A nice drive by the Irish, mostly passing again, 1 running play, excellent play action fake by Coan and a TD toss to Michael Mayer for the TD. Irish 21-7 As gipper noted, lack of a running game so far is very concerning.
Oklahoma State has a nice drive stall out and their kicker misses a 48 yd FG. I hate it when the Irish defense goes to 3 man front on non-passing downs. They give up running yardage almost every time.
Irish drive stalls out and Doerer misses the 41 yd FG. Lack of running game was big on that drive and a big part of why it stalled out. I get taking what the defense gives you and all, but still you still need to have that running game.
Irish got a roughing the passer call, that was bogus. No way the OSU guys roughed him. Helped us continue the drive and Coan hit's Michael Mayer with a great TD pass on the goal line 28-7 Irish.
Oklahoma State big play drive, to answer the ND TD. Spencer Sanders ability to escape and run the football has been big in both of their TD drives. 28-14
