There is a video that was leaked by a Texas player of Asst Coach Bo Davis going off on the Longhorns on the team bus after the Iowa State game, used some foul language (called'em MF'ers) in doing so. Reactions I'm seeing are all pretty positive. Team is soft and needs some tough love stuff, no pat on the back and I know you guys did your best and it's on us coaches to coach you better before and during the game stuff. You MF'ers need to...... You can't really see anything but you can hear it all, and don't listen to this at work or with your kids around!
I have frequently had a problem with SEC refs and in the past felt like they thought we went to the games to watch them instead of the game.
Here's how I would rank the top possibilities (the top 4 remaining scenarios after the CCGs would be the top 4 in the CFP): 1. 0-loss SEC champion (UGA) 2. 1-loss SEC champion (UGA, Bama) 3. 1-loss B10 champion (OSU, MSU, UM) 4. 0-loss B12 champion (OU) 5. 1-loss SEC non-champion (UGA) 6. 1-loss P12 champion (UO) 7. 1-loss ND 8. 1-loss B12 champion (OU, OkSU) 9. 0-loss AAC champion (Cincy) 10. 1-loss ACC champion (WF) 11. 2-loss SEC champion (UGA, Bama, A&M) 12. 2-loss B10 champion (OSU, MSU, UM) 13. 1-loss B12 non-champion (OU) 14. 2-loss P12 champion (UO) 15. 2-loss ND 2-loss SEC non-champion? UGA? Bama? (A&M? Miss? would be less likely to have the clout) The above 15 scenarios really only represent 8 since: - (SEC) 1 and 5 are mutually exclusive - (SEC) 1, 2, 11 are mutually exclusive - (B10) 3 and 12 are mutually exclusive - (B12) 4, 8, 12 are mutually exclusive - (P12) 6 and 14 are mutually exclusive - (ND) 7 and 15 are mutually exclusive It is not inconceivable for a 2-loss team to be in the CFP this year. Most likely Bama?
The 4 team will shake itself out in a couple of weeks. What's more interesting to me is how would an 8 or 12 team playoff look with the teams involved this year? Probably would have been a fun playoff run to watch considering the seeming equality of teams this season.
Well thought out Kes. Agree for the most part. I have some sympathy for Cincinnati if they remain unbeaten. Also look forward to when all the conference movement plays out we move to a 12 team playoff.
A couple of things that the 12 team format would fix is teams like Cincy would have a shot even as a 1 loss AAC Champion. Also teams who get better as the season goes on and finish being one of the better teams but the earlier losses hurt them too much. Texas A&M would be an example, since that blip vs Miss State and Arkansas you guys have hit your stride like what we saw with the Braves the hot team entering the playoffs can win it all, while the best teams overall in the regular season (SF,LA, Tampa Bay) can stumble.
Jim Mora to UConn? That a weird career move for him, IMHO. I mean UConn is a dumpster fire of a football program right now, and with their being an independent they have scheduling issues, recruiting issues, issues on top of issues. I'd say it's a career killer job but he hasn't got a coaching career to kill right now. He's got a nice comfortable job with the NFL network I believe. He's going to be an Asst Coach starting now, so he can recruit and evaluate the staff/team for the rest of the season. UConn hires former UCLA coach Jim Mora to lead Huskies
Eh... maybe he's looking for a final landing strip. If he gets them back to respectable, he's a legend. If not, he just couldn't do the impossible. Either way he's getting a check adding to the retirement pool.
On that viral video of the Texas coach. Apparently, Sark now knows who the kid is that leaked it and is handling it "internally" and won't be releasing his name or kicking him off the team. Also it does seem that in general the response from fans and others is pretty positive. I do see some "gasp he called them MF'ers" but mostly it's positive...ie those kids needed some ass kicking after the way they have been playing. One recruit said he can't wait to play for Coach Davis. Lord help us though if those kids go out and stink it up vs KU, they need to play a full 4 quarters and lay some wood to the Jayhawks. No 2nd half collapse and end up with a close game or even worse a freakin' loss.
Bill I see that Georgia has flipped 2 Gator verbals this week, how is that going over on the Floridia boards?
Nick fears New Mexico State, loser of 5 straight games.... “I think New Mexico State is a dangerous team because they’re one of these teams that is going to pass the ball,” Saban told reporters, including AL.com’s Mike Rodak. “They’re one of the top 25 passing teams in the country.” Nick Saban explains why New Mexico State is a ‘dangerous team’
Alabama will win this game. The thing I will be watching will be Alabama's offensive and defensive execution early in the first quarter. If Alabama comes out and dominates from the opening kickoff, then that is what I expect. If Alabama allows NMSU to get 3 or 4 first downs, or if Alabama starts without a score, then I take that as an indicator of trouble in our next 2 or 3 games. The final score will not matter.
NMSU scores first. It really doesn't matter much how the rest of the game goes. I am pretty sure Alabama will win and they will probably win big, but when NMSU stops Alabama on their first possession, no penalties, no drops, we just got stopped, then NMSU drives the field.for.a.field goal. Alabama has problems.
Start of second Q and Michigan is lucky to be down only 3-0. total yards: PSU: 145 UM: 15 PSU has 10 first downs to UM’s 0.
