I'll expect a full report from this sites #1 New York Jet fan, the guy who rode the team plane to the Pittsburgh game, the guy who probably sat next to Corwin Brown!! Come on down George Krebs!!! Only downside is that Brown is a Michigan Man, and he was run over by Reggie Brooks in the '92 Michigan Game at South Bend, in that famous option n where Reggie is knocked unconcious as he goes into the endzone. <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/mnBHfr2_Ex8"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/mnBHfr2_Ex8" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>
I have to say Charlie must have gone to his roots in this hire, Brown has ties to the Patriots/Bellichek family tree. I'm sure Charlie spent a lot of time with Eric Mangini to find out all he could about Brown.
Terry... <t>Hard to follow this story. Looks like there really is something happening here but like many Irish fans I wonder what the time frame is to CW announcing this? Don't know anything about the guy but know something has to change on that side of the football.</t>
DC <r>I agree with HoustonLarry. The only thnig I know about Brown is what I read on the internet and it sounds good. <br/> <br/> After the last 2 seasons it's hard to imagine our defense being any worse so if this is the guy CW thinks can handle the DC position, so be it. It won't take much to improve on what we have had lately. Give up about 50% less big plays and hold them on third down occasionaly and you're half way home.<E>8)</E></r>
Let's get our facts straight. I traveled with the team to the Cleveland game, not Pittsburgh. And I sat next to Mike Nugent going out, Pennington coming back. I saw Corwin Brown but had no conversation with him. His specialty is pass defense. The Jets have ranked in the Top Ten in that category each of the last three years. What can I say.... he was hired twice by Parcells and Belicek and coached with Weis. That's a pretty strong resume.
Well... <t>There are now two articles in Chicago papers saying its a done deal w/ Brown. He is 36 years old and looks to be the new DC. More to follow.</t>
brown <r>Terry,<br/> <br/> it's looking more and more like it's Brown as the new DC<br/> <br/> LINK: <URL url="http://www.southbendtribune.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070112/News01/70112023/-1/news01"><LINK_TEXT text="http://www.southbendtribune.com/apps/pb ... /-1/news01">http://www.southbendtribune.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070112/News01/70112023/-1/news01</LINK_TEXT></URL><br/> <br/> By the way, how long would it take for Dave or TW to make a move like this? Can you say NEVER?! Both would have stuck with their DC no matter how bad they were for 4 years at least!! Give CW credit for makng a change quickly.<br/> <br/> I wish Minter good luck in the future but he obvioulsy had a chance and just wasn't up to it at ND. <E>8)</E></r>
Also apparently Peter Vaas is leaving as QB coach, and his replacement will be Ron Powlus. I think this is a great move by Weis, another ND man on the staff, plus Brian Baker was good friends with him in college and Sid said that Brian always had great things to say about Ron as a person. He should be able to really help Jimmy Clausen settle into Notre Dame, Ron Powlus was certainly as hyped back then as Jimmy is now. I don't know anything about his coaching ability, but when it comes to offense I trust Charlie a lot, it's his specialty. Defense ...that's another story. Terry
Don't be surprised if he reels in one or two of those lost plums that verbaled to Illinois or Tennessee Charlie Weis found his new defensive coordinator by reviewing a few of his old rosters. Corwin Brown will be named Notre Dame's new defensive coordinator, replacing the deposed Rick Minter. Brown will also coach the linebackers with current assistant Brian Polian working alongside the new coordinator. Polian doubled as assistant linebackers coach and special teams coach last season. Reached Friday night, Brown said his day had been a whirlwind. "I'm just trying to find out what recruits are still out there," Brown said in a brief interview. Brown's ties to the University of Michigan, he co-captained the 1992 Wolverines team and earned all-conference honors, might catch the eyes of a few Irish fans, but his link to Weis is much stronger. Brown played safety for the New England Patriots from 1993-96 followed by a stint with the New York Jets from 1997-98. Bill Parcells coached both teams with Weis working as an assistant in each instance. Brown finished his NFL career with the Detroit Lions during the 1999-2000 seasons. Brown broke into the college coaching ranks in 2001 when he joined Al Groh's staff at Virginia. Brown remained in Charlottesville for three seasons before joining the New York Jets in 2004. He coached the Jets' defensive backs last season.
I think there are a lot of coincidences.... You're from Joisey, so's Charlie... You are a Jets insiders, Charlie hires a Jet You're hot button is DB's, Charlie hires a Jet DB Coach. I've never seen you and Charlie in the same room. I can only conclude that all these years that you've been posing as George Krebs, you've really been Charlie Weis all this time.
