You're kidding right,o_O Terry? It seems to me that the Big 10 has no problem making "special exceptions"

Yeah I know but making an exception for Iowa doesn't do anything for them getting a team in CFP. So I imagine that unless there is another Big 10 team that doesn't have a game Sat and can actually play, that Iowa's next game will be a bowl game of some sort.

While it doesn't impact any of the teams I root for, I really hope Iowa State can win on Saturday, beating OU. They are a good story, a team that is well coached and has some genuine stars in Brock Purdy at QB and Breece Hall at RB. I like Matt Campbell, he's done a good job and has that right combination of mature players and a winning culture that have him in the top 10. He doesn't have the roster that OU does in terms of HS recruiting ranking, but it's nice to see players develop and coaches win with them.

It's hard to do it year in and year out, unless you have that talent level like Ohio State, Clemson and Alabama..but sometimes things lineup for teams like Iowa State.

Texas lost another player, a QB, who has entered the Portal. Ja'quinden Jackson a really dynamic QB who had a great HS career till late in his Sr. Season he had the dreaded ACL. Surgery and rehab put him behind in the QB room this season at Texas and I guess he see's the handwriting on the wall and wants to be the starter some place. I don't know where he'll end up but his HS play says he's a perfect fit for the offenses that most colleges run these days. He's a dynamic athlete and runner at QB. Somebody is going to get a heck of a college QB.

Jackson was the No. 34-ranked recruit overall in the 2020 class and was the No. 2-ranked prospect in the state of Texas in that cycle. He is a 6-foot-2, 220-pound quarterback out of Duncanville, Texas, and was the second-highest-ranked prospect in the Longhorns' 2020 class.

Virginia Tech has opted out of the Bowls this year, ends their 27 year streak of going to bowls, Virginia and Georgia Tech have also opted out of the bowls, along with BC and Pitt. So that's 5 of the 15 ACC teams opting out. Then add in Syracuse and Duke that are 1-9 and of course not going anwyhere and that's 7 of 15, hard to imagine FSU, Wake Forrest and Louisville even getting invited but who knows. This year there is no min # of wins required so technically a 0-10 team can go to a bowl.

Bowls start the 21st with the Myrtle Beach Bowl between N.Texas and App State. Frisco Bowl was scheduled to be the 1st bowl this Saturday but was cancelled.

Looking at the 247 rankings. The top 5 (Bama,OSU, Georgia, Clemson, LSU) have 17 5 star players, the rest of the top 50 have 10.

It's happening, the NCAA has granted athletes in all sports a waiver to be immediately eligible if they transfer this year.

    Open season folks.

That's kind of old news. They've effectively been doing that for a while.

True they have been very liberal for sure, but this puts in writing and the kids don't have go out and hire a lawyer and make dubious claims why they have to transfer. So I think it now opens the door wide and kids who maybe held back because they didn't want to sit out a year, can make the move.

Interesting dynamic, many Irish fans are conceding defeat to Clemson. They are mainly hoping for a good close loss. Most (like me) feel that too many factors favor Clemson in this rematch. I just hope the team doesn't feel that way!!! It would be nice to beat them again that's for sure.

Listening to ESPNU the consensus seems to be that the Irish are in the CFP playoff with a loss, as their best win is the best win in college this year, they beat #1. And the Team likely to benefit from the Irish falling out of the top 4 would be Texas A&M who lost to Alabama by 4 touchdowns. But of course Texas A&M is also the team that benefits from the Irish beating Clemson as most agree that would knock Clemson out.

Also interesting talk that Ohio State needs to beat Northwestern by a lot to solidify their standing in the CFP. the person who said this was former Buckeye Dan Fox. A close game with Northwestern would be a problem for them. But he also said he fully expects the Buckeyes to win by at least 35 or 40 points, that Ryan Day understands what needs to happen and isn't going to take the foot off the gas.

Ryan Day gets it...but doesn't like it.

Ohio State coach Ryan Day insisted he just wants to win the game — he doesn't care by how many points or how it looks to others. He said he hates the idea that style points matter.

“It goes against everything we've been brought up with,” Day said. "I don't think there's any other sport in the world where anything other than winning matters. So it's very unique. If you win by one point every week in the NFL, you'd win the Super Bowl.

"But college football is different, and this year it's even more strange."

Personally I would have liked to have played Wake Forrest, just to get to see the Irish play. But I would have not liked it if Clemson and FSU was cancelled and they got to stay home and watch the Irish play Wake Forrest.

Coastal Carolina played Troy last week and Louisiana their opponent in the Sun Belt Conference Championship game got to stay home. They (talking heads on ESPNU) said that CCU expected that game with Troy to be cancelled and weren't really ready to play last Saturday and had to scramble to win it. CCU didn't like it that Louisiana got to stay home and they had to play a "meaningless" game as win or lose CCU was in the Sun Belt Championship.

I think about the only thing people agree on is that Alabama is currently clearly the best team in college football.

I think that most of us agree that all games that can be played should be played. Then have a beauty pageant vote.

Problem will be the contact tracing that could take out more players for the Buckeyes.

I will say that nobody has played more games than Notre Dame, had they played Wake Forrest they would have played more games than any other team in college football.
