One thing that Mike Brey brought up is how many players are you going to have to have to play a game if there are covid problems? He said in his opinion you can't go below 7. Basketball only has 12 or 13 scholarships, so a few covid and contact tracing issues and you can wipe out a team. Also basketball plays multiple games in a week.

Makes you wonder how this will go down in Dec/Jan when we are supposed to have the worst of the surg.

I really wonder if we will be able to complete the season as scheduled?

Ivy League Presidents have cancelled the 2020-21 Hoops season and all winter sports due to Covid issues. I wonder if any other conferences will follow?

I seriously doubt any major conferences will follow right now Don. Most schools are off in Dec/Jan so I imagine that they will give it a try and see what happens.

I see that Rick Pitino wants to delay the start of the season, now scheduled to start Nov 25th. Play March Madness in May.

I seriously doubt that they will delay the start, but if significant COVID-19 issues arise, I wonder what will happen?

The entire March Madness tournament is going to be held in Indianapolis.

    Round of 64 ..Indy
    Round of 32 ...Indy
    Sweet 16 ...Indy
    Elite 8...Indy
    Final Four ...Indy.

Actually seems like a pretty good idea.

In a Covid - 19 move the mens and womens basketball teams at New Mexico have relocaed to Lubbock (mens) and Amarillo (womens), while New Mexico State has relocated to Phoenix (men) and Tucson (women). Kind of unprecedented, only possible I guess because the players can attend class remotely.

College basketball is already in trouble, a number of teams have been shutdown for 2 weeks, games canceled.

    Rick Barnes tested positive.

Buckeyes open their 2020-21 season tomorrow here vs Illinois State. We are at almost full strength, but a lot of new players, transfers, etc. It will be interesting to see how the pieces fit together. Looking forward to watching some basketball.:)

Just learned this evening that protocol for non conference games this season, is that one positive test by either squad will cause the game to be canceled. Conference games will not be as strict. It will be a strange season for sure.

Sueing made his debut for the Buckeyes this afternoon with a great showing of his athletic abilities. He scored 17 points and made 8 of nine shots, The Hawaiian from Cal players forward and gives us a real scoring threat along with Liddel. Ohio State had their way with Illinois State 94-67.

Purdue beat Liberty in the Space Coast Classic last night...a bit tougher contest against Clemson tonight.

Three of top four scorers for Purdue were freshmen (one a red shirt)...biggest contribution came from 7'4" true freshman Zach Edey who scored a team high 19 pts.

A lot of unknowns...a good start but we'll see when the competition gets tougher. I was like "who are these guys?"

Texas is looking to have a good season and Shaka surely needs one, got off to a good start by beating UT - Rio Grande Valley by 40 points.

In a Covid related item one of our starters, Andruw Jones, was held out because he had a cough even though he had a negative Covid test.

Irish start with Michigan State this weekend. Have Ohio State and Purdue on the non-conference schedule.

Tom Izzo got his first win at Cameron Indoor Stadium last night, he's pretty proud of it and said it's not an asterisk win because of the lack of Duke crazies.
