Best wishes for Coach Saban I hope it's mild and he is back on the sidelines soon. In the mean time Sark has experienced big games as a head coach and Alabama has an experienced staff. so I imagine that the game will turn on the play on the field
Bill, of course not. There.isn't much news, other than he tested.positive and immediately left the campus.
Also, I guess he can't have any contact with the team or staff from 90 minutes before the game until the game is over. That might kill him!
kp, that will be touch for him to handle I am sure! Hopefully he will have a quick recovery or better yet find out he was not positive.
When I first read that about contact with the team, I was thinking...how would he have contact with the team if he's in quarantine! But then it was explained that he can't have zoom calls, cell phone contact, texting, that kind of contact. Seems unnecessary to me.
Also ESPNU guys brought up that it's not a guarantee that UGA/Alabama comes off, that there are test results from the team that will be coming in today I guess and could change everything. Ole Miss/Arkansas is teetering apparently, Ole Miss is reportedly barely above the min of 53 players the SEC requires for the game to be played.
The Athletic has a good article on the Northwestern/Michigan game in 2000. I don't actually remember that game though. Drew Henson got on the bus after one of the best games of his college career. Four touchdowns, no interceptions, 312 passing yards. Michigan rolled up 535 yards and scored 51 points in regulation. And lost. “****,” he said to a teammate. “That’s gonna be an instant classic, isn’t it?” On Nov. 4, 2000, Northwestern put up 654 yards of offense, including 332 on the ground, and defeated Michigan 54-51. In doing so, it introduced a version of the spread offense that has influenced what is now commonplace around the sport. Brent Musburger and Gary Danielson were on the call for ABC. “There’s no doubt that’s the game that changed college football,” Danielson said. “It’s hard to argue.”
I can't believe that after the start to the season for Texas football, that all the talk this week in Austin has been about players and the school song...The Eyes of Texas. Now the Ath Director has dictated that the players stand together after the game while the song is sung...didn't say they had to sing it though. The only player apparently who stayed on the field after the loss to OU was Sam Ehlinger. The team played hard even though they lost and had dumb penalites and mistakes...but I just wonder if this is going to fracture the locker room. Texas athletic director Chris Del Conte said Wednesday he expected players to "stand together as a unified group'' to show appreciation for the school and fans during the playing of the school song "The Eyes of Texas'' after games, but didn't say what would happen if they refused.
The coach could watch all of the replays and sideline reports.and whatever insight the announcers get from the week leading up to the game. I can understand it.
Saban has tested negative for the virus. Apparently, if he tests negative again today and then negative again tomorrow he can return to the field for the game tomorrow night.
I don't know Terry, they said something about it being an alternative lab or something but it could just be a false positive. Apparently the retests are.being done by the SEC sanctioned lab. I guess if all 3 retests come back negative it will have been a false positive.
Did anyone watch Arch Manning and Newman on ESPN2? He lead his team to a 55-22 win over Booker T Washington. I watched a lot of the 1st half, he looks very talented only a sophomore though. Arm looks strong and accurate and he is very athletic, not at all like Peyton, but like his dad Cooper who is always described as the most athletic of Archie's sons. He will be, already is, highly recruited possibly the # 1 recruit in his class (2022)
I read that Saban tested negative on the 2nd retest. I don't know how fast the results are turned around but if he tests negative today he should be able to return to the field tonight.
