Rough start, down 17-14. 2 fumbles deep in our own territory lead to 10 FSU points. Defense did give up a really big play but other than that it's been the turnovers
A score 21 - 17 now and then a 3 and out. Need to score again! FSU Qb is a good athlete and a threat running, has a strong arm as well.
FSU had a nice drive for a FG, they seem to have found something in the middle of the defense as they ran their effectively. Irish answered with a long TD drive to make it 35 - 20 at the half. FSU gets the ball to start the 2nd half
Little rusty, little careless with the football. FSU QB is a problem for our D. Williams might be getting a helmet sticker tomorrow.
FSU definitely has found a running game. 35 - 26. That Qb is a really good runner, strong runner and that's helping the Rb who also looks good as a runner. Lea needs to make some type of adjustments to the running game
Answer a score with a score, excellent drive by the Irish. 42 - 26 Hopefully Clark Lea has some adjustments for the FSU running game.
Irish get the win, but I give FSU credit they never quit and put a goal line stand in the final minute to keep us out of the end zone. I think that Qb has a lot of upside and they talent, I won't be surprised if they are much better by the end of the season. #5 their big wr is a load
353 yds rushing tonight. OL was impressive tonight, and I am still surprised we couldn't push in the last score. Solid workman like performance by Book, but somewhere we are going to need him to take over a game and make plays to win it
JO'Co asked about McKinley a few weeks ago...he had a breakout type of game yesterday and this is what Kelly had to say... Kelly was effusive in his praise for McKinley, who was in earshot when Kelly commended his fifth-year senior wideout. “He’s coming on,” Kelly said. “He’s a beast and he just needs to think that way more often. I think he’s starting to think that way. I think he is. Isn’t he? Aren’t you? “He’s starting to think that way. He can’t be defended. There’s nobody in college football that can defend that kid. (Asante) Samuel is one of the best corners in the country and he didn’t have much of a chance defending him. “If he just continues to work the way he’s been working…He’s been one of our better practice players. He is a great leader with those wide receivers. I’ve been telling him that he has a chance to do some special things.”
It appears to me that Notre Dame really does have a shot for one of the four playoffs spots, especially if any of the current SEC leaders falter down the stretch. I hope my Buckeyes are in the hunt, but way too early to get too excited this early.
Don, besides Whisky and your perennial punching bag M are there any other teams that could be a problem for the Bucks this year? Hey has anyone heard from Tim lately?
Well the Buckeyes do have a very good Penn State team and of course the opener with the Freight Train from Lincoln.... The Big Red one!
Question is how good are the Irish? We just don't know, we are a good team but our schedule so far is just so so. Louisville up next and they are not off to a good start the only win is against Western Kentucky a team with only 1 win. I don't think we are in the same class as Clemson, Alabama and Ohio State they are all just more talented rosters and have better QB'S
We know we have a solid D line and really skilled RBs. We haven't seen much yet from our WRs but our TEs seem to be really talented. Book is smart, a good runner and a decent passer. Overall we're very good offensively. On D our O line is not dominating but we do have talented and deep LBs. Our secondary is way above average and overall the defense is a notch below top D's like GA. We have a chance to make the playoffs especially with our schedule and having Clemson at home. I know Book is waiting for another shot at them. What's that about being careful what you wish for?
Javon McKinley is one of the greatest high school players ever to come out of the state of California. The Irish have added a new dimension with him on the field, a WR that can't be covered 1-on-1. He's exactly what we need when opponents stack the line to stop those fast running backs.
