We have lots of friends. The feeling here is that we're being set up for an epic failure. We have the best record in baseball, but in this setup, that puts us against the lowest seed; the San Francisco Effing Giants in a short 3-game playoff. Frisco could make their entire season by winning two games...
Astros lose again tonight and probably will lose tomorrow. Will make the playoffs and not finish above .500 That seems just wrong.
One thing I didn't think would happen seems to have happened. Early on when teams like the Cardinals were missing games due to the virus, I thought we'd have a season where not everybody played the same number of games. But looking at the current standings it looks like everybody is going to get to 60 games. edit: well it appears the Cards will come up 2 games short...
Astros and Brewers join the 1981 Royals as the only teams in MLB history to make the playoffs with a losing record.
San Diego?....didnt they move to LA?....or was that the Clippers?....Chargers?....Raiders?.....I can't keep track anymore.
Another piece of trivia...Cubs are the only MLB team not to have had a player test positive for Covid.
Dodgers finish a remarkable mini season. They're the first team to win more than 70% of their games since the 1909 Pittsburgh Pirates. They're also the first team in history to average more than 2 HRs per game. They're also only the second team to lead the league in scoring while having the lowest ERA. The playoffs begin Wednesday with Walker Buehler on the mound against the Brewers.
Something's got to give, the Astros who have a horrible road record (9-23), face the Twins who have lost 16 straight playoff games.
Red Sox part ways with Ron Roenicke as manager. He took over for Alex Cora who was caught up in the Astros cheating scandal was fired.
The Twins start Kenta Maeda against Houston. The Dodgers let him go to make room for younger pitchers, which I think was a mistake. At age 32, he throws nice and easy and he's never been hurt. He might have 5 more years and he's a good one.
In a 3 game series who wins the 1st game is in a good spot. Astros, Yankees, Rays and White Sox in that good spot, now just have to win 1 more to move into the Bubble round.
Well the Astros are through to the Division Series, sweep the Twins on the road where they have been pathetic all year. I thought for sure we'd go down in 2 games, not win in 2 games.
