Well it opened today, that's the good news. The bad news is that the Irish had 2 players test positive and 7 players have to quarantine as a result. That's going to be the challenge for everybody going forward, you have to expect some players testing positive, but you also have to hope it's not a Miami Marlins situation. I think it's going to be tough for the players now that they are going to class and have moved into dorms or apartments/houses that they will live in for the fall. Also they announced 3 players careers are over, Cole Mabry an OL, Trevor Speights a grad tansfer RB from Stanford, and Isaiah Roberston a jack of all trades player who was never going to see the field. All went on medical scholarship. I don't know what the deal was with Speights he didn't play last year, and you'd have thought a physical would be needed before he got his scholarship, but maybe not. Either way, he's got his Stanford Degree and a free year of Grad School at Notre Dame. Not bad for never having suited up in 2 years.
Prister on the players (not named) testing positive. the recent COVID tests, two football players tested positive and seven others are in quarantine due to contact tracing. All seven of those in quarantine are asymptomatic. Of the two players that tested positively, one is mildly symptomatic and the other is asymptomatic. None of those nine players practiced Wednesday. At this time, we are not certain which two players tested positively. We believe two of the seven for contact tracing include a projected offensive starter and an offensive backup. They’ll sit out two weeks in quarantine before returning to the field.
