....the cheer I heard on CBS emanating from The O-Dome today during the absolute blowout of Grandpa Oden and Ohio State. Gramps is damned good but he got schooled a little today by the defending National Champions. Them SEC athletes ain't half bad...eh?
Oden is not nearly as good as hyped in my opinion. He appears to be around 45-50 years old and is definitely out of shape. He is totally raw. His defense is awesome if you take the ball to him but if you make him work a little he is easily neutralized. And he doesn't move around much on offense so he doesn't get as many chances as he might. I read in Sporting News beforte the season that he was the best center in America, including the pros. Today he was the third best big man in the game. He should stay in college for 3-4 years and hone his game or until he qualifies for Social Security, whichever comes first.
"He should stay in college for 3-4 years and hone his game or until he qualifies for Social Security, whichever comes first"  :?: :?: Just how old is this guy and if he dated in highschool last year wasn't he child molesting?
It's always good to be a Gator Terry!  We went to the movie with the grandkids and recorded the game. We just got done watching it and I am dumbfounded. The Gators looked very good today. But as far as Oden, I don't sell him short, he's young, been injured and I saw some fantastic blocks by him. But I will take our two big men against anyone at this point.
""I'm sure a lot of the football players were here and watching it on TV," Gators forward Joakim Noah said. "We set the tone. We're really excited for them. Let's go get it."
As posted on Gator Bill's topic, we got our butts kicked pretty good. No doubt the Gators have a tremendous basketball team and deserved to win yesterday. Now for the football prospects, do not get your hopes up too much!
Krebsie...Big O is the real deal. But he does need 2 years of college ball. I watched him on cable the last 2 years when he was in hi school. He could be the next best thing to Bill Russel. jif
Sacrilege! To compare this guy to Bill Russell. I want you to say three Our Fathers and three Hail Marys and wear a sackcloth in public for that statement. I agree that he has a lot of potential but he's a long way off. He could use at least three years of college ball. It was just a month ago that one of the ESPN basketball experts was comparing Oden to Patrick Ewing before he had yet to play a minute. Perhaps he meant JR Ewing?
Oden... <t>Is raw. Great prospect but besides dunks I don't see his offensive game yet. Sure it will come and hope he stays at OSU for three years. Gators were unreal Saturday. Donovan can coach. What a crowd.</t>

Congrats to the Gators....as I expected, they are still babies and not yet ready to play with the defending national champions on their home court and it was evident in the second half. They came out of the locker room with a good spurt to tie the game up then Oden got in foul trouble and it was all Gators. The Buckeye kids got in a bad spot, lost their poise and got schooled by the defending national champions....no surprise there. There is a reason they were favored.... About Oden, keep in mind he's playing one handed - his off hand - and this is only his 4th game in college and he's nowhere near in game shape and in rhythm with his team. While the Gators were winning the national title and returning all 5 starters, Oden and Co were in high school. The kid is a wonderful young man and the real deal.....the juvenile comments about him are punk and bush league at best.....If the draft were held today and he was commited to coming out, he would undoubtedly be the first pick and over his NBA career, his agent is likely to make more than the pony-tailed, chest thumper. BFD, that will surely make a difference.....money will come pouring into the Gator line and the spread will plummet. Tell 'em to bring it don't sing it! Krebise, don't need to adjust your line????? btw, Gonzo is that you? I loved your subject title. Very dignified....MCG. Very dignified. You stay classy.....
Wheter or not Oden is ready to play in the NBA isn't really even a part of the equation. The bottom line is that no NBA team wants to be the team that passed on kids of his potential, virtually none of them are impact players as rookies all they can hope for is that after a couple of years they will be stars. Of course there are exceptions such as LaBron James. But more likely than not it's a rude awakening. Ask Kwame Brown and a few of those guys.
BT, Sometimes I wonder if you take any time to read my posts. The title of the topic comes from an actual cheer late in the game yesterday. It's not a "no class" cheer and it's not even derisive as much as it is a high spirited traditional cheer by Florida fans in which all opponents are deemed as Gator Bait.. Lighten up a little will ya....geez... We usually reserve that cheer for....Florida State....Gator Bait...Florida State.....Gator Bait....you get the picture.....I think. George.....I pity that you are about to be homeless after betting the house....
CBS Sportsline has 5 "expert" pickers of all the bowls and they all took Rice over Troy. Troy won 42-17........some experts!!.... ....and they all take Ohio State too....
There are a host of "high spirited traditional cheers" that can be heard from time to time in Columbus....I'm certain Bobda has heard many of them yet my respect for him and the dignity he has always displayed on this board both in victory and defeat prevent me from vomiting them in his face..... It would also seem that the experts took the Gators yesterday in Gainesville....how did they do? There is a reason they were favored.....
