With Oden playing and FL's Horford out, I'd be shocked if OSU loses this game. I was a skeptic before I watched OSU on the tube last week. Not only is Oden the real deal but he has a pretty darn good supporting cast. Of course, as we know from last season, FL is capable of beating any team in the land on a given day.

At this early stage of the season, a non-blowout loss won't hurt either team. Win or lose, it will help the team's RPI when the time comes for the seedings in the Big Dance.

    Bill,

Wait until you see this young man in person. He looks like he could pass for 35! :D (Greg Oden)

Beating the defending national champions in their own house would be an extraordinary achievement for a team whose starting line up will include 3, possiby even 4, freshman in the starting line-up. These kids have a chance to be very special, but they are still babies.....gifted babies no doubt, but still babies.

I see the Gators are 4.5 point favorites....

Don, I hear really great things about Oden and it should help you that Horford isn't playing.

    I made a mistake on gametime, it's at 4pm.

And thank goodness for TIVO, we're taking our grandchildren to a movie and will miss the game but will cue it up when we get home.

jif, I can only hope you are right!

Horford did end up playing and had a heck of a game, a double double.

Great all around effort by the Gators. I was concerned early as it seemed Ohio State was blocking every other shot we tried. But our guys got in the flow and it went our way.

As I said earlier we went to the movie with our grandchildren, and their parents of course, and we just finished watching the game. I really didn't expect this but of course am very happy.

"Tickets were sold out long ago. At least 20 NBA scouts were on hand to see what was touted as a game featuring three of the best big men in the country. It also was considered a possible precursor for the Bowl Championship Series national title game Jan. 8 in Glendale, Ariz. between the schools.

Gators football coach Urban Meyer can only hope for the same success. He was courtside with his family and spent the second half chatting with former Ohio State football star Cris Carter.

With a few minutes to play, the crowd chanted "over-rated." They followed that with chants of "just like football."

Congratulations to Florida! They outplayed us and killed us on the boards. An entirely different game than I anticipated.

Thad Matta has some talented players on this team, but it is a "Work in Process" situation.

Hopefully we will be a much better team come March and the Big Dance.

Don, I'm sure OSU is really a good team and they showed that at times yesterday.

The difference in the game was that UF played like the champions they are for the first time this season. I do believe that the respiratory/mono thing hit them pretty hard.

In the loss to FSU I noticed Noah going into coughing fits right on the floor as he was playing. When these guys are healthy and motivated we all saw what can happen.

    Healthy and motivated.......hmmmm..... :D

You know I've never understood the "overrated" chant... unless your goal is to downplay your own victory...

Nice thing about Basketball Don is that you have about 25 games to be a work in progress, and I think that Ohio State will very likely be ready for the playoffs.

Scott, I don't quite get that either, I think it's just a bunch of exuberant students doing their thing.

Just returned home. Although I originally said I'd be shocked if OSU lost the game, after the fact, I'm not shocked. I'm shaking my head, laughing at myself for getting caught up in the Oden hype and thinking he made his team invincible. Oden certainly is the real deal but Florida showed that they are still the team to beat in college basketball. Congrats Gators.

Sid, I think it's asking a lot of any freshman to dominate a game with juniors. Especially one who is coming off an injury. Our two big juniors were not dominating as freshmen that is for sure. Noah did not even see that much playing time as a freshman.

I think the Gators were lucky to catch the Buckeyes when Ogen was young and not at full strength.

And thatks for the compliment, I think the Gators are good and we are very proud of this bunch of team players.
