Corey I took the top 50 draft picks in each of the past five years because these are the guys that generally have the most to worry about when it comes to bowl injuries screwing up their draft position and consequently their ability to command high dollar contracts. Of course there was probably another 100 or so beyond the top 50 who were convinced that they also were the best of the best and certainly in that group there was money to be made but not like the higher draft picks. Sure there are non FBS players making money in the NFL but I am pointing out those rookie draftees who have not earned it just yet on the NFL playing field.

Alternative way of looking at it; I would guess that just like there are top FBS players who look at the bowls as a threat to their draft position due to injury...that there are also non-FBS players who may look at their playoff games as a chance to improve their draft prospects.

That shoe fits for FBS players as well.

    Dave,
You make your money in this league on your 2nd contract, not your 1st one. Increasingly, less and less money in those early rounds is guaranteed. They still have the hard cap according to the CBA for what they can value the financial contract as being, but that doesn't mean they will earn that money. The only money that is guaranteed is the signing bonus and NFL owners are real tired of what's called 'dead money.' Aaaaand here I am starting to explain the CBA to you which I swore I wouldn't do.. So just think what you want, but if you don't believe there's money on the line in the FCS playoffs, you're crazy.

Also, I mentioned it in the backroom, but if you get a chance to watch the show I recommended there with the 2 best coaches in football, I'd HIGHLY recommend it.

2019 NFL Draft First-Round Rookie Salary Projections: What Murray, Bosa And Williams Will Make

Total contract for Murray the number one pick was over 32 million with a 23 million dollar signing bonus.
By contrast N'Keal Harry drafted 32nd by the Patriots received 5.3 million in signing bonus.
    # 51 in the draft? Let's just say without looking it was a crapload less.....

All players over time who prove their worth in the NFL make a ton of dough no matter if they are FBS... FCS... Division II.... etc. it just doesn't matter.... after they have proven their worth on the NFL playing field.

But until they do it's a crapshoot.... an educated guess and monetary reward is based on draft position and that can be super reduced by serious injuries incurred before the draft.
For an inner city kid growing up with nothing or for anyone for that matter it's a concern worth thinking about.

    okay Dave.

Anyway, I just saw a blurb on the internet that Super Chase plans on returning to Ohio State. I wonder if he's just saying that for leverage?

If he returns along with three others players who have recently saying they will return, our recruiting is going to suffer with some very talented incoming commitments. We will be oversigned and some tough decisions will need to be made on both sides.

rumors starting to fly that OU has players who have failed the drug test and will be out of the CFP. I've seen anywhere from 5 to 8 players.

Come on Dabo said it could have been in their hair products! :) It was an accident, they are all good guys who wouldn't do this of course!

“This particularly substance can come from anything. And these three players have no clue – in fact, they thought it was a joke when I called them. It could come from hair products. It could come from a cream. It could come from protein. It could come from a product that you order or buy online that you think there’s nothing wrong with it. It could be anything. Literally, it could be a drink – something in a drink. It literally could be anything, as I have come to learn.

From ESPN. Unless something has changed from last year, those guys are done for the CFP. Clemson players who missed the ND game were not back in uniform for the Alabama game.

The Oklahoma Sooners will be without at least three players for their College Football Playoff semifinal game against LSU at the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl on Dec. 28 because of suspensions, sources confirmed to ESPN on Wednesday.

It wasn't immediately clear if the players -- starting defensive end Ronnie Perkins, running back Rhamondre Stevenson and receiver Trejan Bridges -- would also miss the CFP National Championship on Jan. 13 (8 p.m. ET, ESPN/ESPN App) if the No. 4 Sooners defeat the No. 1 Tigers in their semifinal game.

Justin Fields in a light knee brace, knee is 80%..
OU down at least 3 players due to suspension and another player will miss due to injury
LSU starting rb likely to be missing or at least not 100%
Clemson..haven't read anything that indicates they are dealing with any injuries.
