I wasn't convinced this young man was going to pick ND but I'm sure glad he did. Tremedous athlete and a huge target as a WR! Another great catch for CW and staff and nice target for Clausen next year. :D

Yup very important pickup for the Irish. He has a tremendous upside, sort of in the Mike Williams (USC) mode, not a burner but big and physical and will likely overpower a lot of CB's.

<t>Had not counted on this one. Clausen will have a bunch of targets and lessons the impact of not getting Benn if he continues to be on his world tour.<br/>

Someone post something on some D-Line recruits please, lol.</t>

New WR recruits Duval Kamara and Greg Little are both 6'4". I think CW liked that formula with Samardzija and Mo Stovall last season and he'll try to repeat it. Can you say, "Alley Oop?"

Exactly right. I think with these two guys and the WR's we have already that CW will use that formula again and again. Hopefully someone like West or Grimes can strecth the field and the big WRs should find themeselves in one on one coverage a lot which, as we know, already spells troube for our opponents. <br/>
    <br/>
We are really looking good on offense. Plenty of QBs, WRs, TE, OLs and DBs, we gotta get the Defensive line and LB players now. <E>8)</E></r>

<t>Thanks for that, lol. I know the staff is on all the ones that are qualified its just that the program badly needs three or four good ones to build a solid defense.</t>

Another big pickup is supposed to happen today when Tenn Ath Golden Tate picks the Irish. Way to go Charlie, this guy is a big time player!! Announcements should start rolling in Fla's Ian Williams is a possible ND commit, he says he's down to Auburn and ND, he just visited ND and came away with a good feeling. He's a DL and we need those!!

I never watch those clips, everybody looked like an AA to me when I did and they are ususally poor quality anyway.

BTW, Irish lost out on Martez Wilson, he's signing up with Zook. Zook is putting together a monster class and I don't really know why kids are excited about going to Illiinois. There are some rumblings that Illinois boosters are flashing the $$$ again, they've done it in the past.

I am also worried a little bit about Ian Williams, I think he really wanted to go to Fla but they didn't have a spot for him and wanted him to wait. So if something opens up at UF, I hope he doesn't renig on his commit.

    Yes...

<t>True on the looks but this group is very good and I look to get an idea as to whether the guy looks to be a great athlete or not. Tate has that look.<br/>
Lets hope we pull Williams off but CW better have more than just him close to coming.</t>

Some of these kids just don't want to leave home. I suspect that is Wilson's reasoning, if true. Here's a top 15 kid who could go anywhere in the country and he chooses Illinois?

    George,

I learned watching my son's friend, Chris Dittoe, a big-time QB recruit in the early 90s, that the lure of playing for the home state school can overcome other factors. Chris narrowed his choices to Michigan, Tennessee, UCLA, IU and someone else, and he chose IU. Bill Mallory was the coach at the time. He did not have the career he had hoped for, but today he is a successful young businessman in Indy. There's no doubt that his years at IU resulted in some good home-state business connections.

One other factor could be that the kid sees himself as capable of helping his home state school get back on the road to respectability. As good a recruiter as Zook is reputed to be, he probably uses all the above to sway an in-state kid's thinking toward Illinois.

Well it's offical Ian Williams chose the Irish today. I hope Charlie has a couple more of the big uglies on the DL ready to go, we are woefully thin there. Certainly he can sell early playing time.

I followed this kid's recruitment... the biggest concern he has vocalized about South Bend is the lack of nightlife. I understand that SB is not Las Vegas but if that is his main criteria then why not Ohio State or even USC where he can party at Hef's mansion?

This IS great news! Charlie does not seem to have any trouble getting his share of outstanding offensive talent but it is like pulling teeth(bad example huh) to get kids like this to come to ND. Hopefully we can get at least one more big DT and some DE/LBs with this class. <E>:D</E></r>

    Great news .....

<t>On both guys and if the reports are true CW has been in Knoxville trying to nail down the good safety Harrison Smith. Did I say safety? Seems we will be needing one. LOL !!</t>

Yeah Smith would be a great pickup as would be the other kid from Tenn, Chris Donald. How odd would it be to get three players from Tenn in one year? I guess it might be considered payback for the Tenn womens basketball program comming to Indiana and regularily taking the top player(s). :)
