KP's right guys. Bama has some very clear weaknesses, or at least has shown them so far. Saban is a master-class coach, so we'll see what he has ready for the Aggies. If I was A&M, I'd do exactly as KP said on defense, and on offense, I'd patiently commit to spreading out Bama and then running right at them playing keep away from the Bama offense. I just watched Stanford do it to Washington, and Jimbo just loves that style of possession based game with short dump offs to the tightend and backs out of the backfield. I still took Bama and put big points on them, but I'd not be shocked if A&M gives them all they can handle.. assuming they don't cough it up or commit dumb turnovers.
If this was the 2018 A&M offense, I'd be excited. But our shuffled OL has been very erratic at opening running holes, and when they do... the freshmen RB's MISS IT! On defense our DT's have been VERY good. The DE's... not so much. Those guys have to step up and get pressure near Tua WHILE staying home to keep him from just motoring on down field. It goes without saying that our improved DB's MUST stay with their coverages, or it'll be lights out real fast.
Well Miami after giving up 42 points to a struggling VaTech last weekend, found a defense and stoned Virginia for a 17-9 win. Not good for my picks!
Officials flag both Texas and OU for pregame scuffle, with unsportsmanlike. That means any Texas or OU player who gets and unsportsmanlike during the game will be ejected. I wonder if Dave thinks this is fair?
Texas has forced the 2 turnovers and a field goal. Longhorn offense has been stuffed by OU. We're lucky to be down only 10-0. Herman better have some adjustments at halftime.
Texas closes with a FG, 10-3 at half. Lucky as I said to be this close. Halftime adjustments needed badly.
Most of the score predictions for Texas/OU were both teams in the 40's. But it's 10-3 at half. A defensive battle has broken out.
Down goes Texas, 34-27. OU defense really got after Sam Ehlinger. Sacked him 8 times, plus quite a few tackles for loss. Yet we were still in the game till late in the 4th qtr. Jalen Hurts didn't do anything to hurt his Heisman chances. Down goes UGA in 2OT's at home to a very average So. Carolina. I'm pretty shocked. Was UGA really badly over hyped? Top OL in the country, 2 NFL quality RB's, a cool customer in Jake Fromme at QB. I of course didn't watch the game, it does seem to me that Kriby Smart out smarts himslef at times. Michigan, again just following the score online while watching the Texas/OU game, looked like they were in cruise control on offense up 28-0, but I guess they let up on the Illini who then made it close in the 4th qtr at 28-25 before UM finished them off 42-25. Aggies off to a good start right now with Alabama and score first.
Alabama bounces right back. This could be one of those 'calamity weeks' in which all you really need to do is survive.
