Finally!!!! And I'm sure most of you agree that you are very glad that the long wait is over.... college football returns on Saturday and UF and Miami fans are in full blown game week this week. All the polls are out.... preseason prognostications are made and we have a live official ESPN Gameday this Sat. at 9am. And I'm encouraged by some things I read about the Gators.... things like this little tidbit from Mullen: "Mullen said Franks has improved more this offseason than he did during last season. “Huge strides” he said." With the skilled receivers the Gators have if Franks has any time to throw I'm pretty encouraged by what the offense might do this year..... also because UF is very deep at RB as well.
Is this a sold out Camping World Stadium? Any word as to Disney relenting and letting fans with banners into the park for the Game Day set? Also don't forget the late game that day, Arizona at Hawaii! Actually an important game, Arizona needs to get off to a good start, they have a terrific QB who Sumlin struggled to figure out how to use in his first year, he's a highlight reel dual threat kid. I also see that Miami and Florida have agreed to a home/home series in 24/25.
Me too Don.... I'm hoping to enjoy it just a tad more than Ralph.. Yes Terry... I saw that home and home agreement also.... good thing for both. Haven't seen any relenting by Disney on the banners although I'm sure they have caught a ton of flack about it. I have to wonder what happens to the fans who furl one up and take it in under their clothes and display it anyway? Do they get kicked out? Wasn't this game on Stub Hub's list of top ten tough tickets to get? Man this game would have had Gonzo in a Skybox frenzy back in the day...LOL
Interesting comment about Zo Corey. I might also bring up Rodney, in fact I am likely going to meet, or have him over, for supper in the near future. He now drives a Semi truck and makes regular runs though Franklin. I would not mind bringing back a couple of old timers if they could be less confrontational than in the past. Ask Terry and Tom what they think and perhaps we might give it a try.
Now my prediction Gators 35 Miami 17 Yes Terry we have agreed to a home and home with Miami in 24/25. I won't quite be 90 by then so perhaps I will get to see the games.
They can be confrontational. I've got nothing but cancer treatments, inner rage, my family and my Skybox family to fill my head. I'll argue with people about Georgia and Miami football. What do you think I already do?
Ok I'll venture my prediction..... 33-20 Gators I think the UF defense will be tough on a first year Qb in a new system. The game could be a runaway except the Miami defense keeps the UF offense from doing what it wants.... and keeps UF kicking field goals at times instead of TDs.
Looking forward to watching the game this evening. just delighted the college football season has finally arrived!
Last UF vs Miami game watched in person was a Tebow team running over a Randy Shannon coached team in the swamp. Most recent was in 2013, the last time both teams played. My son was enrolled at UF and I watched it with him and his roommates with a Miami victory. My son refused to drive down to the house this weekend to watch it with me, said he’s still recovering from the last time we watched the series together... Fun series that doesn’t get a lot of credit
It certainly will be an interesting game. Gators are favored and should be, they have a returning QB who finished off last year strong, esp the Bowl game win over Michigan. Gators also have a good defense. On the other side, Miami QB has virtually no experience even though he was highly ranked in HS, and Miami has a young and inexperienced OL. I'd say that the Gators should win this one handily.
Hard to argue Terry, our wet behind the ears QB and inexperienced offensive line should be the difference. Our defense is going to be fierce no doubt but too many three and outs with the Gators journeyman QB may make it rough. I look for a very simplistic offensive scheme from our side and Mullen to do his best to confuse our QB.
Regardless its time for a mixed drink with a squeeze of a Florida grown Persian Lime and settle down to enjoy the opening game of the season. Fun fact is my 86 year old Miami Alumni Father is pumped to watch the game which is just as important to me at this stage in life
Good opening drive by Miami, looks a little chippy out there, I'll be surprised if there isn't a fight sometime.
