Things happen, at one point last year it seemed like there was no way anybody but Tua was going to win it, till Kyler Murray won it. Heck if Ohio State goes undefeated Justin Fields might win it!
kp...did I ask you who was behind Tua should he get injured? Anybody who has thrown a pass in college yet?
Preseason AP Top 25 1. Clemson (15-0) 2. Alabama (14-1) 3. Georgia (11-3) 4. Oklahoma (12-2) 5. Ohio State (13-1) 6. LSU (10-3) 7. Michigan (10-3) 8. Florida (10-3) 9. Notre Dame (12-1) 10. Texas (10-4) 11. Oregon (9-4) 12. Texas A&M (9-4) 13. Washington (10-4) 14. Utah (9-5) 15. Penn State (9-4) 16. Auburn (8-5) 17. UCF (12-1) 18. Michigan State (7-6) 19. Wisconsin (8-5) 20. Iowa (9-4) 21. Iowa State (8-5) 22. Syracuse (10-3) 23. Washington State (11-2) 24. Nebraska (4-8) 25. Stanford (9-4) Reportedly one of the things that pollsters take into consideration is do you have a returning starting Qb? Clearly in all of football the whole thing starts with having a championship level QB. Yet two of the top 25 teams, OU with Jalen Hurts in a totally new offense and Ohio State with Justin Fields in a totally new role as the starting QB are exceptions.
Terry, Mac Jones is the only qb besides Tua that has taken a snap. He's a little bit of a hothead but he's a talented guy. He has not had to play in a real pressure situation.
Well Lincoln Riley officially named Jalen Hurts the starter at OU, big surprise! I wonder how long Ryan Day will wait before naming Justin Fields the starter at Ohio State?
I would think Hurts is a known quantity. He doesn't know the OU system but he is instinctual anyway. Fields has never really played more than a couple of plays in a row yet.
No doubt Hurts experience makes his situation at OU completely different than Justin Fields. The thing we won't know about Hurts for a few games is whether or not Riley can craft an offense that showcases what Hurts can do or will he try to pound a square peg into a round hole that fit Mayfield and Murray but not Hurts. i'm sure Hurts wants desperately to prove he can throw the ball with the best of them so that he can get to the NFL as a draft choice and not a UDFA
Listening to the talking heads it seems like for the most part they feel the CFP will not have either a Pac12 or a Big12 team this year. Pretty good chance it will have 2 SEC teams, Clemson and a Big 10 team.
Interesting article on the cost of college football recruiting. Not surprisingly Alabama and Georgia spend the most on recruiting. Alabama 2.3M Georgia 2.6M Tenn 2.0M What is surprising is that Ohio State who annually is a top 10 at least, and more often than not a top 5 recruiting program spends significantly less, 944K, while rival Michigan spends 1.4M. Clemson and Texas A&M both spend 1.7M and Texas spends 1.8M Investigation: NCAA schools' spending on college football recruiting is skyrocketing
WSU doesn't have a returning starting QB, and hasn't announced yet who the starter will be. Things are leaning toward Gordon, even above transfer Gubrud.
That'll be quite the upset won't it? Was Gubrud was a 2 x finalist for FCS player of the year and had quite the career at E.Washington. Has he been 100% since arriving at WSU, he missed a lot of last year with a foot injury. Are you going to be at the Houston/WSU game?
We haven't even played a game and people are already talking about 2 SEC teams in the CFP. That's ********.
Not really, Georgia has a schedule that is made for an undefeated season, they will play some teams that will boost their profile if they win. ND, Fla, Auburn, Texas A&M. All are winnable games. I could see Georgia and Alabama reaching the SEC Championship game both undefeated and ranked 1 and 2. If it's a close game the loser could easily make the CFP. Sure it's BS because we haven't played any games yet, but since this time of the year we talk about stuff like this, it's not really BS.
Good news for you Pac12 fans! They have decided to table the 9AM PT kickoffs for this year. Keg's and Eggs next year!
