Well lads, from everything I've read, we have no hope. The Irish are doomed. For the second time this year the Irish will venture down to Dixie to take on a big time southern football power. From the breakdowns of the game it appears that they hold the advantage at every position. Hell, even Les Miles is getting the nod over Charlie D Robot. I wonder if they will make our players pay at the gate to get in? Still, if they will find it in their hearts to let the boys show up, pick up the Tshirt and have a little jumbalaya we would just as soon play a little football on that day. Its already being said that anything less than a 18 to 20 point whipping will be a poor showing for LSU. Hold me, I'm Irish.
I haven't thought this through all the way but my initial feelings are that we may be in trouble. Charlie is going to have to come up with some major changes in strategy and / or personnel on defense to win this one. Our D-backs are like lambs to the slaughter more ofter than not. We'll score points but enough, I don't know.
You know everybody talks about how good LSU is, but think about this, they haven't won the SEC in either of the last two years. This year they were not in the Championship game, and last year Georgia took them to the woodshed in the Championship game. Les Miles has yet to prove he can win the big ones. Having said that, they have a lot of talent.
George... <t>I'm with you my friend. DEFENSE DEFENSE DEFENSE. We have rather large problems.<br/> <br/> Hoping for a miracle.</t>
I agree with Corey......no question that LSU and Georgia Tech are on the same level talent wise.....yeah....no question.... 8)
replies <t>Bill,<br/> <br/> You pick it. CFN, ESPN, SportingNews just about anyone. You read their bowl projections, we're going to get our arses kicked.<br/> <br/> Check out the LSU boards. The Irish don't have a single player who could start for LSU.<br/> <br/> MCG,<br/> <br/> Its funny how the whole region is just untouchable until the Irish beat that team; from that point on, they suck ass. That Georgia Tech team/defense just destroyed Auburn the year before. I guess that was all coaching? This year's GTech team is better than last year's. That defense will produce several NFL starters. That offense will probably produce a starter on the line, a good/decent NFL back and at least 2 WRs that should play for a long time. LSU is talented, no doubt, but just because the Irish beat GTech doesn't mean they ride the short bus.</t>
Ah yes another bowl season. Once again we're playing a higher ranked team and this year it's in their own backyard. I hope we show up.
I hope you show up also gipper. Otherwise it's going to be a very boring game with LSU playing by themselves!
Why don't some of those deep pocketed Mid-Westerners bankroll a new major bowl (or two) up yonder ...... so "yous" (sp?) won't have to travel so far for your bowl games? What about the bowl game in Detroit??
Gipper I hope we show up as well, it won't look good if we get another 20 point pasting by a Top 5 team. This team is loaded with Sr's, who in some ways don't have anything to play for in this game. I know they have pride to play for, breaking the winning streak, but will that be enough to get them fired up to play their best game of the year? I hope so. Charlies proved he can beat the teams he's supposed to beat, now it's time to beat some teams when you are an underdog. Although last year nobody gave him much of a chance to beat the first 6 teams on his schedule and he went 4-2. But the Bowl last year and the Mich and USC games have dented his credibility in terms of preparing a team to play a big game, in all those games they came out sort of flat and unemotional, and got socked in the mouth and found themselves down 21 points before they could get their breath. A win vs LSU would be a big step forward for the program. Terry
We have a bowl in Detroit but it is so damned cold and icy right now outside I can well understand why no one wants to fund some big BCS bowl here in the motorcity. Question...why is Ga Tech unranked and LSU #4 if the two teams are so close in talent? Besides...Tech was beaten by that good for nothing sorry ass Georgia team ( according to Corey) so how can Tech be any good at all?
Funny we had the biggest bowl of all the Super Bowl last winter and for the most part it got good reviews from visitors and the press. Yeah it's cold. It's warm in the casinos, restaurants and hotels. As I recall the weather was worse in Atlanta than it was in Detroit for the Super Bowl.
Re: Ga. Tech.....2 words Reggie Ball. If they had a real QB they probably would have beaten the Irish, Calvin Johnson should sue Reggie and the OCoord/Play Caller. Re: Georgia....biggest mystery of the year. They have the talent to be better than they were, the Auburn and Ga.Tech games prove it. Probably Richt's worst job of coaching.
LSU will crush N.Shame. LSU has great talent..but they havent been able to put it all together. I expect them and USC to be the top dogs next season.
ND/LSU <r>Spoken like a true Irish hater!<br/> <QUOTE><s> </e></QUOTE> <br/> Again it will be just the opposite: <br/> <br/> ND will crush LSU. <E></E></r>
Georgia seemed to get their act together in the latter part of the season and then beat Auburn easily in a game they were supposed to lose by a big margin. Then they beat a higher ranked team in Georgia Tech. So I don't know what to make of the Dawgs.
I will be rooting for Quinn and the Irish in this game. Brady, a home town boy here in Columbus, has had a great career at ND. The LSU defense should provide a great challenge for you Domers, but I think your offense will prevail. Good Luck, Don
Speaking without intending any rancor or sarcasm; It is ironic that talking points like conference championship games making life more difficult are so valid (and I accept your premise, as I have said)... While no one from the, uh, warmer areas has ever conceded that winning bowl games might be a little bit tougher when you are almost automatically the "visiting" team. I always kinda felt that way about the Rose Bowl (especially when it was always USC & UCLA in the old, old days) but I would't have changed it...it was a great end-of-the-season challenge for winning the conference, and who wanted to play it in Ann Arbor or Columbus? It won't change, nor should it...bowls need to pretty much be played in warmer climates, and they are gonna usually pick somebody nearby to ensure interest...maybe not always, but it's a huge factor when they look at whom to invite. Actually, this year it's not too bad...the Rose and Sugar are the only ones that jump out at me. That's the one nice thing about the BCS Championship game...it doesn't host a "backyard" team unless it's coincidence. I look at this game as pretty much a toss-up. I might give LSU the edge because of the home field...but then again ND is absolutely used to going into the lion's den and kicking arse.
