Yikes this USC player was not ejected. https://twitter.com/ronflatter/status/1063913178566811654?s=21
Down goes West Virgina...that is a good thing for Texas hopes to get to the B12 championship game. They also need OU to beat West Virginia now. Before this loss they needed West Virginia to beat OSU and OU as well as of course winning out ourselves starting with Iowa State tonight. We have the tiebreaker over OU and West Virginia has the tie breaker over us. Wisconsin outlasted Purdue in triple OT. Aggies are tied up with UAB in the 1st qtr. BTW according to what I read one of Les Miles kids is a FB for the Aggies!
the Big12 title game is just the silliest thing ever. Still, I guess everyone needs that extra data point so you can't fault them for playing it.
Ag's are steam rolling UAB now. Duke is giving Clemson a bit of trouble. KU without a coach is hanging with OU.
I see FSU got the win over BC today. Miami got a much needed road win at Va.Tech today...Va Tech really not having a good year. Texas lead Iowa State 7-3 looking pretty good.
Terry, The wildest game I can ever remember for Ohio State, Our defense was terrible in the first half. [/quote]Don, Coach Meyer does not look healthy. I'm wondering if he is not well. Kp, I think he was just beside himself for the way things were going. I did no look much better either.
Since they've already given the Heisman away for this year, I sure do hope that Minch the mustache at least gets an invite. He's putting up video game numbers on people. Miss State and LSU were teams who honestly had good individual games, but weren't great consistently. Syracuse was averaging something like 36 points a game. All of their games, they score a ton of points. Tonight, they kicked a last second FG to avoid the shut out. Like with the rest of us, we'll see.
5 ranked teams lost this week, 2 of which were upsets to UR teams (ranking is CFP/AP): - #9/#7 WV lost (to UR/UR 6-5 OkSU) for their 2nd loss - #12/#12 Syr lost (to #3/#3 11-0 ND) for their 3rd loss - #16/#18 ISU lost (to #15/#13 8-3 tu) for their 4th loss - #20/#22 BC lost (to UR/UR 5-6 FSU) for their 4th loss - #24/#19 Cincy lost (to #11/#11 10-0 UCF) for their 2nd loss Four unbeatens still remain: UCF (10-0) Clemson (11-0) ND (11-0) Bama (11-0) Six 1-loss teams remain: OU (10-1) UM (10-1) OSU (10-1) Utah St. (10-1) WSU (10-1) UGA (10-1) P5 conference bowl eligible teams ACCA: 4/7 eligible, 2/7 needs one more win, 1/7 not going bowling ACCC: 5/7 eligible, 0/7 needs one more win, 2/7 not going bowling B12: 5/10 eligible, 4/10 need one more win, 1/10 not going bowling (plus loser of BU/TT) B10E: 4/7 eligible, 2/7 need one more win, 1/7 not going bowling B10W: 3/7 eligible, 2/7 need one more win, 2/7 not going bowling (plus loser of IU/PU) P12N: 5/6 eligible, 0/6 need one more win, 1/6 not going bowling P12S: 2/6 eligible, 3/6 need one more win, 1/6 not going bowling SECE: 5/7 eligible, 2/7 need one more win, 0/7 not going bowling (plus loser of Tenn/Vandy) SECW: 5/7 eligible, 1/7 needs one more win, 1/7 not going bowling Power 5 conference championship game representatives: ACC: Clemson vs. Pitt B12: OU/WV/tu/ISU, the scenarios that earn each a B12CG berth: - OU, path they control: they beat WV - OU, path that requires help: tu loses to KU - WV, path they control: they beat OU - WV, path that requires help: tu loses to KU **AND** ISU loses to KSU - tu, path they control: they beat KU - tu, path that requires help: none - ISU, path they control: none - ISU, path that requires help: OU beats WV **AND** KU beats tu **AND** OkSU beats TCU B10: UM/OSU winner vs. NW P12: WSU/uw winner vs. UU SEC: UGA vs. Bama
WSU has previously had five 10-win seasons: - 1929 they were 8-1 before losing to USC to go to 8-2; they ended 10-2 - 1997 they were 10-1 before getting screwed in Rose Bowl to end up 10-2 - 2001 they were 9-1 before losing Apple Cup to go to 9-2; they ended 10-2 - 2002 they were 9-1 before losing Apple Cup to go to 9-2; they ended 10-3 - 2003 they were 9-2 before losing Apple Cup to go to 9-3; they ended 10-3 - 2018 they are 10-1 before playing the Apple Cup... WSU has a 13-game home win streak and I can honestly say this version of the Cougars is unlike anything I have ever seen out on the Palouse.
Re: USC player not getting tossed Further embarrassment for the league that I'm sure will only be addressed by the league with platitudes. Fire Larry Scott.
Wash State made Arizona look like the Citadel, Liberty or Idaho this past weekend. 55 first half points? That's just nuts. Longhorns took care of business with Iowa State and now are back in control of their own destiny with regards to a B12 championship. They did however lose Sam Ehlinger the starting QB and when he went down that was pretty much the end of the offense for Texas. Whether he'll be ready to play at KU I don't know. But KU inspite of not having a HC did score 40 points on OU so I think Texas better be ready to have to score points and the game at KU is likely to be the coldest game the Longhorns have played in awhile. The good news for Texas is that we are sitting at #11 right now and it isn't impossible that this team will finish the season in the top 10. That's a long way from where we were after the Maryland loss and the ugly win vs Tulsa. People are already talking that 2019 will a breakout year for Texas and that we will contend for the CFP. Looking at the top 10, which BTW UCF finally has moved up a few slots. to #8. Georgia or Alabama is going to lose another game, and either Ohio State or Michigan is going to lose another game...that's a given. Oklahoma will have to defeat West Virginia and most likely Texas to stay a 1 loss team. The will be on the road to Morgantown ordinarily a tough place to play. Wash State has the show down with a good Washington team, then the Pac12 Champ game. Notre Dame has the show down with a down but probably dagerous USC team. USC is a team that has, on paper, a lot of talent. But they just haven't been able to put anything together and I've mentioned several times how unranked USC teams have ruined Notre Dame seasons in L.A. The first one in my personal memory was the loss to USC in 1964 Ara's first season, win and ND is the Nat'l Champion. The next one was the loss to an unranked USC team in 1970 by a undefeated ND team led by Joe Theisman and had they beaten USC they likely would have been National Champions. There are others. So I hope Kelly has this team ready to play a talented, wounded, USC team. God forbid...but if Notre Dame, Michigan ( them I'm ok with losing), Georgia and Oklahoma lose and Wazzu wins out they could get in the CFP playoffs. I think that if all of those teams lose that Wazzu might jump up to #3 and the Irish could maybe hold on at #4 or maybe UCF if they remain undefeated could jump into #4. That #4 slot will be very highly debated if all of that happens.
Les Miles to KU is official. Good luck to him, heard somebody comment that Les can get them back to a .500 squad but not likely to do more. He's 65, question is going to be of course does he have the fire in his belly for recruiting to KU not quite as easy as recruiting to LSU. Also has he made the necessary mental conversion to allow him to have a modern college offense that can score some points. Pay close attention to who he hires as the OCoord.
I guess everybody knows about the horrific injury that Alex Smith suffered in the game vs the Texans yesterday. It is being compared to the Joe Theisman injury. Due to TV technology and slo mo we've seen a lot of horrific things in football...the worst I can remember other than Joe's is Tyrone Prothro of Alabama in a game vs the Gators. Kid was a dynamic player and it was the end for him.
Terry, the Prothro injury was about as disturbing as Theisman's. I remember them both. I didn't see this one and in a way I'm glad I didn't.
