JOCO with a class post. George had a class post when the Yankees were put down. This has been a most civil World Series between 2 of the great organizations in the game.

I have to say that I really thought that the Astros were the team this year, even though the rSox won 108 games to the 103 for the Astros.

We had the best record in baseball in Sept and we beat them 2 out of 3 in Fenway in late September. Then when we took out Cleveland 3-0 and won game 1 in Fenway in the ALCS with Gerrit Cole going in game 2 I thought we had a shot at winning in 5 games. Cole had been so dominant in his start vs Cleveland I thought he was hitting his peak at the exact right time. Oh well..4 games later the season was over.

Astros and rSox are the WS favorites for 2019.

We have somethings to work out though. Verlander isn't getting any younger, will he be as dominant as he has been since coming to Houston. What to do with Dallas Keuchel who has not been great since he won the Cy Young a couple of years ago. He's a free agent, he said his preference is to return to Houston, but I doubt if the Astros will pay him the money his agent thinks he should command. What about Lance McCullers Jr, he's had injury problems, what about Charlie Morton he's getting old as well. Our core of young players, Bregman, Correa, Altuve, Springer all will be back and all except Bregman had injury issues and missed significant time in 2018. Altuve had knee surgery the day after the ALCS was over. Those guys need to be healthy.

But all that said we should be good next year. But next year is next year.

I'll be interested to see what the Dodgers and Yankees will do this off-season.

Yankees need two starters and an everyday first baseman. I also would not mind seeing them pick up a catcher nor would I mind seeing Gary Sanchez as part of a big trade.

Been in Florida side late last week. I didn't see all the games but it was obvious that the Red Sox are in a class of their own this year.

I thought both Houston and LA would play them close but nope.

Congratulations to JIF and the other Red Sox fans.

Kershaw could opt out and that's OK. He's no longer worth $35 million per year...

Yasmani Grandal has worn out his welcome at catcher after flopping in the playoffs for the second year in a row...

Manny Machado won't be needed with the return of Corey Seager...

Dozier, Freeze, Kemp, and Madson won't be needed...

Look for the Dodgers to be younger and faster next season.

The Yankees do NOT need Manny Machado and the word here is that they have cooled on him considerably after watching him in the playoffs.

Yesterday they refused to exercise the option on Brett Gardner but then immediately re-sign him under a new one year deal at a $3 mil discount.

I look for them to move Sonny Gray out one way or the other. Austin Romine may go free agent. Sanchez is a total liability but may capture the fancy of others as a defensive re-hab project. CC will probably be offered another one year deal. I hope they don't go all out for Harper but I can easily see them doing so. So the outfield would be Harper in left, Hicks in center and Judge in right. I think they may give Greg Bird one more chance at 1B. They MUST re-sign Neal Walker! Look for them to be very active for starting pitchers.

I expect they will be very a

No, Willie McCovey? One of Mobile, Alabama's 5 hall of fame players. Damn, time just flies.

Now that baseball's winter meetings are starting this week in Carlsbad (La Costa) talk is starting to heat up of offseason moves.

The 2 biggest FA's are Dodgers Many Machado and the Nat's Bryce Harper. I read an article that the Dodgers shouldn't sign Machado but absolutely need to go after Harper with an open checkbook. JO'Co?

    :D :!:

That's laughable. We don't need Harper for anything. The Dodgers have a major log jam in the outfield with kids down in the minors who will probably bat 50-100 points higher than Harper next year. I'll be curious to see what they do, But adding Harper would just add to the problem.

The team won't really need Machado either once Seager returns in the Spring. Signing him would force Roberts to move everybody in the infield every day. Machado is a luxury that the Dodgers just can't afford.

What the Dodgers are in the market for is:

    1. An upgrade at catcher.

    - Yasmani Grandahl failed in the playoffs for the second year in a row. Some just can't handle the brite lights and the big stage and he seems to be one of those. With all the super catchers stashed in minor leagues, it's time for the team to use it or trade it...

    2. Pitching.

    - Everybody needs it and we do too. Kenley will undergo another heart operation. Kershaw is slowing down. Wood, Stripling and Ryu are inconsistent. We need more.

Look, if you guys don't sign Harper (who I believe is only 25) then the Yankees are going to and I just don't need that kind of negativity in my life :)

Machado is only 26. Why don't the Yankees sign him too?

Meanwhile the Dodgers front office and coaching staff have been raided and cleared out. The latest to raid us was Frisco yesterday...

I saw you lost your GM and your hitting coach. I still think you guys will roll on fine.

Harper is a 'face of the organization' type of franchise player. Machado is not that guy, as we all saw.

Harper would not be the face of anything here.
