 TOM!! One day we'll be singing Rocky Top on the Big Red Train again!!....until then, just tread water in these Gator and Irish infested waters until the TIDE rolls out...
Damn Ga Tech runs for almost 500 yds on Bud Foster's Va Tech defense and the Rambling Wreck.. Wreck them49 - 28. Didn't see that comming.
Hey T, I'm going to put this right here, I hope you don't mind. https://twitter.com/twitter/statuses/1043379973753581568 https://www.cougcenter.com/2018/10/25/18020994/pac-12-larry-scott-woodie-dixon-targeting-usc-vs-wsu If Wazzu continues to do their job and play the way they have the potential to do, this could turn into a real nightmare for Larry Scott and the P12 executives. I've shown the statistics of "living on their history" Stanford that shows WSU really should be favored (even S&P+ predicts a 4+ point WSU victory). The final games after Stanford for WSU: - at home vs. Cal (for a possible 12th-straight home victory) - @ Colorado - at home vs. Arizona (for a possible 13th-straight home victory) - at home vs. the evil Seattlites in the Apple Cup It is possible (not probable?) WSU would be 10-1 going into the Apple Cup against a co-ranked husky team, at home, going for their 14th-straight home victory, ranked in the top ten, with the lone blemish related to the embarrassing, continuing saga of the USC non-call hanging over the heads of P12 officials. A lot is being written about dismissing the P12 as the worst P5 conference, pointing to that their best case champion is a 1-loss WSU, but much more likely a 2-loss (or even 3-loss) uw, Stanford, Oregon, USC, or Utah. A lot of additional embarrassment could be on tap by additional text messages from Leach to Scott about a 1-loss P12 champion being left out of the CFP if the stars align just right. In that case, Wazzu will be ecstatic to go to the Rose Bowl, all the while harassing inept Larry Scott. Of course, WSU could also go down in flames and end up in the Sun Bowl after pissing away a beautiful opportunity.
Miami loses another road game at BC. UCLA v Utah on now have to be all of 10 to 20k fans in the Rose Bowl tonight. Of course Dodgers playing rSox tonight across town might have something to do with that.
Northwestern is whipping Wisconsin, and Florida State is getting killed by Clemson. FSU is really having a bad year.
Wazzu now 8-0 ATS on the year. Vegas, please, keep setting the line so Wazzu continues to give points.
For the love of Pete, can SOMEONE loan the Aggies a secondary? Hell I'll take a bad one at this point! That would be an improvement. We've covered for them up to now with a decent pass rush, but to make Fitzgerald look like a world beater is so embarrassing...
I was a bit surprised when I finally got home to see Okie State was up big on Texas. It came down to the wire, but the Horns came up short. I listened to the 1st half of the ND game because my 2 hour drive became a 5+ hour drive due to a horrific 4 car crash on the interstate in which 3 people died. I watched the 2nd half and once again we seem to lack that killer focus in the 2nd half when we get up on someone. Northwestern simply does not quit. We will need a much better effort to beat the Wildcats next week.
The Gators said a big welcome back hello to irrelevancy again today.... but hey.... it would have happened just as bad or worse in Atlanta vs Bama and at least they were very relevant for the last three weeks. Now they can focus on their Citrus Bowl quest....
It was an absolute weekend of horror for almost a half of the ranked teams. 11 ranked teams go down, 8 of which were upsets to UR teams (ranking is AP/Coaches): - #6/#7 tu goes down (to UR/UR 5-3 OkSU) for their 2nd loss - #9/#11 UF goes down (to #7/#6 7-1 UGA) for their 2nd loss - #15/#13 uw goes down (to UR/UR 5-3 Cal) for their 3rd loss - #16/#17 A&M goes down (to UR/UR 5-3 MsSU) for their 3rd loss - #18/#18 Iowa goes down (to #17/#16 6-2 PSU) for their 2nd loss - #19/#21 UO goes down (to UR/UR 4-5 UA) for their 3rd loss - #20/#19 Wisc goes down (to UR/UR 5-3 NW) for their 3rd loss - #21/#20 USF goes down (to UR/UR 7-1 Houston) for their 1st loss - #22/#22 NCSU goes down (to UR/UR 6-2 Syr) for their 2nd loss - #24/#23 Stanford goes down (to #14/#15 7-1 WSU) for their 3rd loss - #25/UR App St. goes down (to UR/UR 7-1 Ga. Southern) for their 2nd loss Four unbeatens remain (same number as 11th week in 2017): UCF (7-0) Clemson (8-0) ND (8-0) Bama (8-0) Sixteen 1-loss teams remain: Cincy (7-1) USF (7-1) Houston (7-1) OU (7-1) WV (6-1) UM (7-1) OSU (7-1) UAB (7-1) Buffalo (7-1) Utah St. (7-1) Fresno St. (7-1) WSU (7-1) UGA (7-1) UK (7-1) LSU (7-1) Ga. Southern (7-1)
I don't think that Oklahoma State QB scored, but I also couldn't see clearly that he didn't. So I get why they didn't overturn the call, I also think if the call on the field had been he didn't score that replay wouldn't have been able to overturn that either. But Longhorns still have their destiny in their own hands in terms of the B12 championship. Starting with Wes Virginia next week. Can still be a really good season for Herman. Also I think he would have taken out Gundy with 1 punch if they'd let him get to him. I didn't get to see a lot of the games this weekend but looking at the scores and reading some this morning. It looks like Wash State is really playing well right now, that QB of theirs (Minshew) is really good college Qb. He makes good decisions, is accurate throwing the ball. A real find for Leach given nobody really knew anything about him from playing at E.Carolina I think. Northwestern, really on a roll right now. I think I read that Wisc starting QB didn't play, but still Wisc has been the gold standard over in the West and now Northwestern is in the catbirds seat. Purdue, not really a surprise that after that big emotional win that they couldn't match that level the following weekend. Still it's not like Mich State is chopped liver. As expected Neb won their scrimmage with BC. I was surprsed at Miss State beating A&M, esp that A&M didn't score very many points. I really thought the Aggie offense would roll up some points on MSU. Would have been a very good win, but instead a tough loss. Tenn even though they lost seems to be heading in the right direction with their new coach. Kentucky got the win and I saw the replay of the PI call at the end. Not sure if that was a legit PI. But it sets up a big game on paper at least with UGA. I seriously doubt though that if that same UGA team that beat UF shows up they have much of a chance. UF/UGA .. unfortunately for the Gators the old UF offense showed up against the Dawgs. Still UF like Tenn is looking like the new coaching is taking effect and better times are ahead. Miami/BC...ugh. Caines just don't look very good. BC does look pretty good and might give Clemson a battle in Chestnut Hill As Kes said, Utah is really coming on, that was a solid win vs UCLA. USC/ Arizona State. I have to wonder if USC will be looking for a new coach. Oregon and Washington 2 teams who were looking at ways they would get into the CFP....both lose. Washington benched Jake Browning, that is a big surprise. Michigan and Ohio State didn't play. Getting healthy this week and getting their mojo's shined up.
AJ, welcome back to Columbus Saturday, I have no idea what to expect. A wounded bear might be dangerous or a timid dog still licking its wounds?
Iowa had a bad day yesterday but their mascot's day was worse: https://twitter.com/j_a155/status/1056304763824979968
