So Game 1 went pretty much how I thought it would go. The real test is going to be Game 2. As George can attest to, David Price is either untouchable, or the Dodgers are going to whack him like a pinata, forcing the Sox into their bullpen early. I am sure the Sox wanted to get more out of Sale today, but he pitched himself out of finishing the 5th by throwing way too many pitches earlier in the game. The Sox lineup takes what they give you and they are murder with 2 out focus. The Dodgers still have enough to bring this back and pick up home field.
On FaceBook I predicted the Red Sox in five. I'll stick with that. Price looked good in his last start; if they can eke out a win with him on the mound they are set . Boston has put together a strong hitting team from top to bottom and excellent team defense. They have the best team.
rSox just a really good team this year, tough to keep off the bases and they have a good game plan to win. You don't win all those games with smoke and mirrors. I'm not sure about winning in 5, but I won't be surprised if they go to LA up 2-0 and win at least 1 out there and then close out at home in game 6.
Man, Kershaw is taking a lot of heat for the L last night and I don't understand it. He had a better start than Sale did AND I'M A RED SOX FAN. The Dodgers lost that game when Roberts made the move to take Baez off the mound. He took a plus plus fastball off the mound. Cora went to his bench and produced a 3 run HR. I fully understand left/right matchups, but Roberts replaced a plus plus fastball with an average fastball and moderate control problems. That L was on Roberts last night. I know Price did well in his last start, but his starts in the post season and his starts against the Yankees don't instill a lot of confidence in me about tonight's game. If the Dodgers take game 2, they take home field advantage in the series heading back to the NL part, with NL rules which will force that incredibly balanced Red Sox lineup to become a talented, patch work lineup.
Well Price did enough to win in Game Two. I'm sticking with my prediction of Sox in five. They are supremely confident and have been all year. Solid defense and great contact hitters. Kershaw's mystique and fastball seems to be missing. That is blood in the water to this team.
What stands out to me is that the Red Sox have scored more than half their post-season runs with 2 outs. I'm big on 2-out rallies. It's a sign to me of toughness and a refuse-to-lose mentality. 2 outs? We're just getting started. Bring it on. These seem to be the Red Sox mantras. On the other side, the Dodgers - at least in the first 2 games - have been victimized by the same unexplainable curse that befell the Cubs at the end of the regular season. Their murderous bats have gone silent at the worst possible time. Maybe the return to LA and warm weather will shift the momentum. Right now, it's all with the Red Sox. EDIT: I just saw this stat analysis on Twitter, which supports my amateur observation:
Nailed it, El Sid. They put the bat on the ball and any time you put the ball in play you have a chance.
Looking like it might be a 5 game series. Astros probably would've needed 7 games again though to take out the Dodgers.
Regardless of who you are cheering for, how can you not like Mookie Betts? http://www.sportingnews.com/us/mlb/...ame-2-3-lou-merloni/rrbwk8zgja2g1h3u0zbd39cbr[/url]
I didn't make it to the end of that game. Longest game in WS history. Dodgers win! I wonder if Diane made it to the end?
 Game #3 was longer than the entire 1939 World Series. So many records broken. Buehler gave up only 2 hits with no walks in 7 seven innings and looked unhittable. His performance was matched by only two other pitchers in World Series history: Roger Clemons and Don Larsen in his perfect game. Yes, I watched the entire thing and I still don't believe what I just saw. ………….Go Irish
I guess Trump was watching the World Series tonight rather than college football. https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1056391795523895296
I watched every pitch of maybe the greatest game ever played. That was really special. Buehler is a beast as is Nathan Eovaldi.
I'm not trying to jinx anything as there's 3 outs left, but the Dodgers really got a dose of showing what happens when you baby sit talent. I think Roberts made some huge mistakes in this series, but he was at least 'true to his format' of managing. You can't really blame a guy for dancing with the girl he brought.
one looking for two: My hat is off to the Dodgers. Losing Seager should have been the end of their season, but they found a way to make it to the World Series and did it the hard way. I imagine they'll part ways with Machado, although if they kept him, an infield of Machado, Seager and Turner would be a murderer's row.
