sorry, I've waited a loooong time to start a subject with that header that didn't have to do with those damned Trojans.

I kept expecting UCLA to let it slip away, but they made the big play they couldn't make against the Irish.

That interception was ridiculous. That kid earned his scholly if he never makes another play as long as he lives!

    Very intense game.

As a matter of fact I think I saw more ferocious hitting in games today than I did most of the season.

With about 5 minutes left in the game, I told my younger son, Eric, that the Bruins weren't going to blow it. I sat near field level, close enough to see their eyes and facial expressions at the ND-UCLA game and I could see the panic in the young Bruin players. They had a lead and the clock on their side, but they had no clue how to close the deal. It was a classic deer-in-the-headlights choke...but today they looked different. The tipoff came when both benches emptied after the Maualuga hit on Cowan. The Trojans tried to intimidate the Bruins on the TV timeout after the punt and the entire Bruin team met them at midfield, led by their coach. This was the opposite of the way they acted in South Bend, when they kept looking at the clock and hoping that they could survive the Irish offense for one-half more minute. This time, they stayed aggressive and kept looking to make plays. The young UCLA players are learning how to win those kind of games and one of their few seniors finally showed some leadership and made a play...

This is going to make finding ND-UCLA tickets next year even more difficult than I thought...
