Last year, Alabama lost the last game of the regular season which kept them from winning either division or conference. They just sat back and took the invite after everyone else played it out. I don't think PSU commands that type of respect to be honest.
Maybe so, it depends a lot what the other teams do...if ND, Ohio State and Clemson win out loser of the SECCG no matter how close is not going to jump ahead of those teams. But then that's not very likely that we end up with 4 undefeated teams, so it could be pretty dicey at the end with a bunch of the currently undefeated teams picking up a late loss like last year.
Terry, if Ohio State, Notre Dame and Clemson are all undefeated then I don't think the SEC Championship game loser would make it in no matter who that was.
I agree kp, I think the Tide should be banned from the championship game this year to level the playing field!
Don, haha! Not exactly what I said  I don't think we will have 4 undefeated teams at the end of November. If we do, there will be some very heated conversations. 5 or 6 one loss teams will be interesting too. 8)
Yeah that's where the arguments will get heated, Teams with early season losses like Mich, Penn State and Texas will want to jump teams like ND, Ohio Sate, Clemson and W.Va if they lose late.
I don't get what has happened to Auburn, they looked very good in beating Washington in the opener and right now, with all due respect to the Vols, they have just lost it. Pitt almost pulls off the big upset for the 3rd year in a row, but the Irish find a way to win.
Re: the 8 team playoff, I'm fine with it. It's not happening though till the current contracts run off and I am absolutely against guaranteed slots for Conference Champions. 8 best teams, which in most years will include the Conference Champions, so no need to guarantee them a slot.
Looks like Georgia is going down big time in Baton Rouge. Hell of a game out west between Oregon and Washington. Going to OT. Like the Irish, Texas barely escapes with the win over a Baylor team we should have beaten by 3 TD's.
Washington goes down to the Ducks i in OT. PENN STATE goes down to Michigan State. Georgia is rolled by LSU.
The Aggies dominate everywhere but the scoreboard (again)... until 7 minutes in the 4th when they reeled off a 6 minute drive to seal the win. And for the record, I was calling for an 8 team playoff before we went to the current system!
I missed a number of games after the Buckeyes managed a win at home over the Gophers. Upset city seems to be the theme throughout the afternoon and evening. Michigan and Wisconsin battling each other tonight. We looked very pathetic on defense this afternoon. The Gophers had three crucial turnovers and missed two field goals, allowing the victory for Ohio State.
