Things are picking up quite a bit this week, still some buy games for the Power 5 but also a lot of good games.

It starts with a couple of teams not expected to contend for the CFP on Thursday night with Wake Forrest and BC going at it. Both teams have gotten off to good starts and could have good seasons.

    Nothing of significance on Friday.

    Saturday things get rocking.

Gippers favorite wronged team UCF goes to North Carolina, shouldn't be much of a game. UNC is in disarray and UCF still has the core of last years team and currently owns the longest NCAA winning streak.

    BYU travels to Wisconsin
OU travels to Ames Iowa to play Iowa State, who has no offense. OU has offense.
LSU travels to Auburn....this is a big SEC West game. Both teams are looking good so far.
West Virginia at NC State....State probably just an average team, WVA looking to have national impact with Heisman candidate Will Grier.
Boise State at Oklahoma State...now this is the type of matchup that Corey loves to see. Boise looking good can they go into an average Power 5 stadium and get the win? OK State rebuilding this year.
Lehigh at Navy...this is a Jif special.
Colorado State at Florida. I'll bet this was scheduled when Jim McElwain was the coach. CSU still without their HC I think and beat Arkansas last week. Could be more pain for Gator fans?
Houston at Texas Tech ...UofH for real? win here and they could be headed to a UCF type of Fake Nat'l Title. Could be a 70-65 type of game. Art Briles son Kendall is the UofH OCoord and he's working some magic with the Cougars
Alabama at Ole Miss ...Ole Miss has done well recently v Alabama. They have a good QB, SEC people say this guy was beating out Shea Patterson and that was why he transfered. It'll be the Tua/Jalen Show though.
Missouri at Purdue... Purdue looked pretty good in the loss to Northwestern, not so much in the loss to EMU and Missouri is undefeated.
Washington at Utah is actually a big game in the Pac12. Utes could be a wild card in the Pac12 race.
Arizona tries again for the first win of the Kevin Sumlin era with Southern Utah...lose this one and he can pack his bags.

Now for the really big games! Big 12 weekend to shine.

USC comes to Austin for the Longhorns...if Tom Herman was going to turn the corner with the Longhorns this would be a good time to do so. USC has freshman wunderkid at QB in JT Daniels but he is a freshman. It'd be nice if the UT defense came to play and shut him down.

Ohio State comes to Jerry World to play TCU. I do think TCU is a good team, but they just don't have the roster and depth to take on the Buckeyes. I expect that the Buckeyes will win this one handily. I wonder if there will be more Buckeye fans in AT&T Stadium than TCU fans?

Still a lot of Buy games on the schedule.

Aggies after a great game v Clemson take on UL Monroe
    Michigan takes on SMU
    Georgia plays MTSU
    Penn State plays Kent State
Neb will get the first win of the Scott Frost era when they play Troy.
Clemson follows the gritty win at A&M with Georgia Southern.
Stanford plays UC Davis...really they have a football team? Hello Jif?

We've had a lot of rain influenced games already in this season and with Hurricane Florence bearing down on the Mid-Atlantic this coming weekend you can bet we'll have some more.

BTW speaking of Hurricanes, anybody hear from Ralph?

    Terry,

I just dropped Ralph a line to see if all is well with him in Florida.

During the Civil War, the soldiers from Mississippi were feared for their fighting abilities and ruthlessness.

But, this video of a pregame brawl at an Ole Miss fratboy tailgate probably has the spirit of Nathan Bedford Forrest holding his face in his palms. Was there one good punch thrown?

Not that it matters but Tennessee may be playing UTEP if Hurricane Florence doesn't cause trouble that far inland.

SCOFRO said that Martinez might play this Saturday in today's presser....good news I guess.

FYI... Ralph and Ginger were on vacation in Maine, so that's why he hasn't chimed in for a while.
I think they are back now, but not sure.

Terry... USC doesn't look that good to me... so I'd say you have a CHANCE!
    :D

Damned storms... summer is still too close for me to say I'm tired of the rain yet. BUT... if this continues I'll start to whine soon.

Hoping Florence takes a hard unexpected turn north, and doesn't really tear anything up near our coastal friends.

Tell me AJ didn't just say "SCOFRO"...

I’m crooning for the 52 degree mornings I had the opportunity to enjoy up in Maine and Prince Edward Island.....And survived the “Watchout for Mooseâ€￾ warning signs coming back...My thoughts and prayers for everyone in the vicinity of FLO as we continue to pick up the final pieces on today’s one year anniversary of Irma...

Enjoying the privilege to watch a new season of college football even if we lose to LSU while watching it on the Canadian cable but hey we mastered Savannah St. this weekend (Still wondering if they are actually a real college team).

And I hope AJ knows I was rooting for his Huskers dearly and it killed me to see them lose but they have a great future...But Scott’s Aggies may be the dark horse in the scenario as they really outplayed Clemson but for a few bonehead mistakes as well as crappy ref decisions....And go Herm Edwards when nobody gave him much of a shot

Been hanging low my friends, I’ll try to be more active....

Ralph you seem to favor wilderness vacations. Last year it was some Mtn hideout in Appalachia, where there are no gators or pythons and I don't think they have them in the Maritime Provinces of Canada either. I'm sensing a trend! :)

USC looked terrible vs Stanford and their freshman QB looked like a deer in headlights.

USC...aka The Mater Dei Trojans are starting freshmen everywhere. The two most prominent are QB JT Daniels and WR Amon-Ra St. Brown.

WVa and NCState will be cancelled as will UCF and UNC. I expect pretty much every football game in the Carolinas to be cancelled.

Of course in 2016 they made the Irish play in a Hurricane at NCState.

BuckeyeT lives in Wilmington doesn't he...right in the path of Florence.

If you read this Terry, stay safe! Maybe get on a plane to Dallas and watch TCU and Ohio State in person!

Terry, I just looked at a weather map and 20" of rain is currently predicted for Wilmington. I have emailed Terry and will see what he has to say and will share with the group.
