excerpt from a report on last night's Notre Dame Football Banquet... "Weis spilled the beans tonight...Quinn won the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award. He defeated John Beck (BYU), Kevin Kolb (Houston), Troy Smith (Ohio State) and Drew Stanton (Michigan State) to win the award. Candidates were judged upon character, citizenship, scholastic achievement, leadership qualities and athletic accomplishments."
Congratulations to Brady, I'm glad he won. It's not as prestigious as the Heisman but still it's nice to get some recognition for your accomplishments.
Krebsie, When did he spill the beans? Comcast 8 had Unitas II on TV and he announced the winner last night at 7. Next week at 7, Brady will be on Comcast 8.
Here's an interesting article on why Quinn should win the Heisman, which of course he won't, but ND fans will like this. Buckeye fans will not, and rightfully so, it's just one view and no doubt you could make the case just as well that a player shouldn't be penalized for playing on on a talented team.
Gip, there you go again! I thought I said, "whiny, old crank!"   btw, Congrats to Brady!
Terry...the answer is yes...I hope for his sake he doesn't go there...we have a habit of turning talented young quarterbacks into shellshocked guys looking for a foxhole to jump into. Gotta get offensive linemen first.
gipper is not going to like this .... They are only inviting Smith, Quinn, and McFadden to NYC for the Heisman. No Sydney Rice or Steve Slaton......
You know my feelings Doc. I think Brady should stay home and rearrange his underwear drawer or do something else useful. It's not like he promised them last year he'd be back this year.
Quinn wins the Maxwell Award. I've very happy for Brady, the Golden Arm (Johnny Unitas) Award and the Maxwell Award, you can't complain about that! Now if he can just get us our first bowl win since Hector was a pup, it would put the icing on a great Notre Dame career. Terry
Congrats to Brady.....a very worthy winner. Taking down LSU in the Sugar Bowl would be a fitting end to a great college career. Go Irish!
There is plenty of hardware to go around for Quinn and Smith. Article in Dispatch yesterday that Quinn will be rewarded as top draft pick. Don
