So... USA today published a lovely piece on a transferring player who wants to play immediately, and is therefore petitioning the NCAA based on the new "mitigating circumstances" rules.
    Allegations
The main issue is he alleges he was given extra money to entertain recruits on unofficial visits along with extra required workouts.
I'm going to wait for the schools official response to really judge, but after reading the article, a few things stand out to me.
First... he admits he has no receipts or anything else to prove he spent the money he supposedly got, even says he kept any that was left over (wouldn't that be a rules violation by him?).
Second... some of the texts he supposedly sent his Dad seem odd... like they were written after the fact and somehow back-dated to support what he's trying to do now.
All in all what I see so far is a bunch of accusations that cannot be proven either way. This might work out for him, but there's no way for the school to "prove" this didn't happen, which of course at minimum will be a smudge on efforts to continue to recruit at a high level.
Don't get me wrong... if there was shady stuff going on, I want it snuffed out and corrected.
But I can't help feeling at first blush this is all a kid wanting to play now, and a lawyer getting involved to find a way to make it happen regardless of cost to anyone else.

If true, the real crime here is that Sumlin was bending the rules and couldn't put a better product on the field :)

Like it or not Scott, we all are facing youngsters and individuals willing to get a big story now days with half-truths, etc. It seems to be the modern world and one I do not particularly care for at all!

    Interesting read this morning CBS:

The Ole Miss exception certainly opens doors. I'm a little dismayed by this statement in that article though.
Sort of implies schools need to learn to cheat better.

Oh, I didn't read it right. They are saying that Jimbo is cheating. I would actually buy that, but I don't think it will matter in this day and age. I'm not saying I'm wishing it on Scott or the Aggies, I'm just saying that it makes more sense.

I see this morning on CBS sports, the young man in question has been dismissed from the Arizona football team by Coach Sumlin.

I saw that, he reportedly used a racial slur in a video that surfaced recently, but has since been deleted from a HUDL account. Idiot.

The racial slur was "monkey's" in describing some black players on film. Social Media is the downfall of so many people, they just can't help themselves and they don't realize that so often things that they think are private aren't and somebody somewhere they think are maybe their friends are thinking ...Hey I'll bet I can get some money for this video or recording. Wham....you're backing up and saying you are sorry it's not who you are, etc.

I'll bet between this and his going after his former coaches won't make him a hot product on the recruiting trail. Next time we see him it'll be on a episode of Last Chance U. :?

I think I saw that this video is one he was trying to use as evidence in his case.
So in essence... He screwed himself.
