    Today was the first day of fall camp. Not much to report nobody is hurt, they were in shorts and tee shirts.

    In his presser yesterday Kelly was evasive when asked about Dexter Williams, said that he was on the roster and had a great summer and is in terrific shape. Everyone thinks he's going to miss the 1st 4 games.

    <r>Seems like they did the same thing with Stepherson. I hate this little game they play. This isn't hard, tell us if he will play against Michigan or not. Geez <E>:?</E></r>

    <t>I don’t know about any of the other ND fans here but I’m not hearing or seeing anything out of fall practice yet that makes me feel real positive about Wimbush so far.</t>

    I'm not seeing anything either Tim. Last Wed was an open practice and both the writers from Irish Sports Daily and Irish Illustrated said he was not impressive that day.

    Lot of wondering if he'll get yanked in the Mich game if he struggles in the 1st half and Ian Book take over the job. Sort of like that year that supposedly Dayne Chryst won the competition for the starting job but a bad 1st half resulted in Tom Rees taking over and Chryst never was heard from again.

    Clearly though everything you read from Kelly is that Brandon is the starter, no doubts.

    So a new thing to worry about that is not about Wimbush.

    Robt Hainsey's calf, had a MRI today. If he can't go against UM we're or more specifically Wimbush is in deep trouble.

    Wimbush seems to have a football form of the yips on his short passes although this could be a disinformation video targeted for Ann Arbor:

    i never thought of it that way, but the yips does seem appropriate. At this point I have to wonder if, mental or not, that Brandon can be fixed. It'll be up to the coaches to call plays that he can execute with confidence.

    <t>a little bit of optimism from today's practice:<br/>
    <br/>
    11-on-11 Observations (Thud)<br/>
    <br/>
    Wimbush<br/>
    Completed screen to Chris Finke for a short gain<br/>
    Tony Jones Jr. short run<br/>
    Completed screen to Miles Boykin for a short gain<br/>
    Completed screen to Chris Finke<br/>
    Completed to Kevin Austin Jr. on a check down but would have likely been a sack<br/>
    Completed check down to Tony Jones. In a game, would have been a 20-yard run from Wimbush<br/>
    Tony Jones Jr. run <br/>
    Incomplete to Michael Young. Troy Pride Jr. PBU.<br/>
    <br/>
    I especially like the screeen pass results. Lord know we didn't see that much last year</t>

    Irish revealed a look at this years Shamrock Series Uniforms...we play Syracuse at Yankee Stadium Nov 17th.

    Every Shamrock Series uniform always gets a lot of criticism. I have liked most of them, some more than others of course. This one might be a little bit much. They are using the Yankee's colors and pin stripes, not much Notre Dame in them other than the lettering.

    It could be worse. If the SS game were in Chicago, the edgy designers from UA might have been inspired by a classic White Sox uniform to create an alternative ND jersey....

    Since I am now in the "get off my damn lawn" stage of my life, I am not a big fan of alternate jerseys.

    I remember those things from my very young childhood. Somewhere, I have all the baseball cards of that team.

    Professional teams have had some really ugly uniforms over the years, that's for sure. The "throw back" uniforms frequently are the worst.

    But colleges are all in on the "special uniforms" for at least one game a year.

    So far, Alabama has resisted the temptation for the outlandish uniforms. I hope that continues.

    Texas uniforms have remained pretty much the same, they do make changes. Most recently the font for TEXAS on the front of the Jersey changed and recent photos seem to indicate that the color is changing slightly, although they deny it and say it had to do with the filter used to do the photographs.

    At one time they didn't have TEXAS on the front of the Jersey. The helmets didn't always have the Longhorn on them, that didn't happen till the early 60's, numbers have been on and off at various times.

    ND Uniforms have changed as well, back in the Leahy years we wore Green, then Navy blue, and then in 1977 Devine had the famous green jersey game vs USC and we wore Green till Faust came on board and we switched back to Blue but it wasn't Navy Blue, Holtz brought back the Navy Blue.
