The Buckeyes are in a no win situation here. Reputation or coach. Take your pick.

I truly believe Urban is a good guy.... and would not pull a Joe Pa on this one.

His winning and the integrity of the program do not supercede common decency.

This whole thing is perplexing and kind of ludicrous.

Nobody really knows right now what he knew, when he knew it, and what he did about it. It will come out after the investigation. I do NOT think it will be a whitewash. (But everybody's got an opinion on what he did or did not do).

If he didn't act or report it appropriately, or KNEW how bad it truly was and kept the coach on his staff, then he should be gone, and no excuses made in order to keep him and his coaching talents. It would be a black eye for the university but one that it would have to take.

On the other hand, if he reported it appropriately, and had no knowledge of how bad it was, and had reason to believe that it was NOT that bad, then he should not be suspended or fired just to appease critics and "protect the reputation" of the university.

If anyone from the university pressured the police and justice system to whitewash the abuse...then everybody remotely involved should go.

I don't see him being suspended...if he covered something up...he should be fired. If he didn't, then nothing should happen.

    Agree with Stu.

Why is the guy still walking the streets if there was evidence he was beating his wife?
I'm not trying to minimize that crime if it did happen, but there are two sides of every story.

As of what we KNOW right now, I can only fault Urban for how he deflected during the media days.
Saying he wasn't at liberty to discuss things like that would have been a far better answer than I didn't know.

Look, I think we're all dancing around the real question here....

How has Brian Kelly avoided a scandal like this and where do we go about getting him one?

    Asking for a friend,
    Corey

I have to agree with Stu also.

I don't know where this ends but all the publicity isn't helpful.

    Three scenarios are possible.

    1. Meyer is fired because the evidence is there that he knew and did nothing or even worse, appealed to the "victim" to not have the husband arrested.

    2. The investigation shows no proof that Meyer knew and he is saved.

    3. She suddenly recants her story about Meyer's involvement and he is saved. She then moves into her new mansion and her new circle of friends in the jet set.

There will be no winners anywhere when this is all decided. People like Meyer are under the microscope constantly by the media, they are paid extremely well and expected to perform miracles for the fans. Gene Smith our AD is now in the crosshairs as well. Who really wants a job like this regardless of the pay? Certainly not me! :(

Yeah if Meyer can prove he told Gene Smith about Zach Smith and Gene said keep him...that's not a good thing for Gene. Almost seems like one of them are going to be caught up in this deal.

I have to say that for the most part Press Conferences are pretty worthless, it's lame questions from reporters or gotcha questions from reporters and then lame answers from players and coaches.

The only press conference that I like is the ones that Saban gives, he's got so much gravitas built up due to his success that he can just skewer idiot reporters and get away with it.

No matter how bad the players screw up on the field the coaches have to take the blame and say how it was their fault for not coaching or preparing the team when they lose. If they say, I can't tell you how many times we've worked with player X on not biting on the pump fake yet the idiot keeps doing it, they will be skewered for throwing their players under the bus.

When they win, the question is always about what they did, and the answer is we really prepared well and had a great week of practice unlike last week when we lost and had pretty much mailed it in during the practices leading up to the game.

    I just rarely watch them.

Terry, I am watching the contrast of Hurts' comments with Saban's comments. Hurts made some specific complaints and I cannot believe Saban just ignored them. Also Hurts never mentioned comments that his Dad made. Could get interesting if Tagovolua is named as the starter.

To be fair, Saban had that gravitas walking in the door. Initially, there was a fun relationship between the media here who had grown accustomed to poking the bear with coaches and Saban. He didn't give then, he didn't give now.

His achilles heel though, ask him for a depth chart...and then run.

I was reading today that Urban can have no contact with the players, coaches, and doesn't even have access to University email. I wonder how a control freak like Meyer is biding his time while this is going on?

Also, if things get too bad for Urban, there's always this guy....

    "How you doin' Buckeyes?"

Corey, funny! Turns out maybe Courtney Smith may turn out to be the abuser and she had said more than once after her husband's infidelity. According to her own Mother and mother-in-law, she has sworn that she would make him pay and would bring Urban down with him.

Presiden Drake has an almost insurmountable decision facing him at the moment, protect the university publicly as an academic institution or keep Meyer and his fundraising ability as the head coach? A decision will be forthcoming this week. Stayed Tuned!

This is interesting from an A&M bulletin board. Turns out Tom Herman tipped off Brent McMurphy on the so call Ohio State abuse Scandal. Looks like Herman was upset losing a 5 star WR to the Buckeyes form Texas.

Apparently, there is bad blood between Tom Herman and Zack Smith. Looks like Tom and his wife have been helping Courtney with some of her legal expenses as well.

If this all proves to be true, I have absolutely no respect for Tom Herman!

Are there any actual men involved in this story? If there is, can we just have them duke it out to see who is the winner? Man... this is just ugly.
