Buckeyes... your AD had some choice things to say a few months ago about how Texas A&M runs their business...
When can I expect him to recant?

Much more conservative approach here Scott. He will have to produce to get the big bucks! The wrinkle for him to have an administrative job following his retirement is a cute little perk. I doubt that Urban would ever be happy with an administrative job. I guess all of the AD's are being forced to pay the market price? I hope things work out for Jimbo in Aggie land and for the fans as well.

At least Urban has a strong resume . Paying Jimbo that kind of money is hard to justify at any level. Paying a Brian Kelly anywhere near that would be ludicrous. But let's face it, the sport has morphed into a major corporate industry where education and school pride have next to nothing to do with it.

Certainly Urban has earned the right to a hefty raise as he is clearly one of the top 2 coaches in the country, second only to Nick Saban. His program, like Alabama's has dominated both on the field and in recruiting.

But that said, coaches salaries are just nuts these days.

But it's not like the Buckeyes went overboard on Meyer. It's not a 10 year contract, and he was already making 6.5M/year, so bumping to 7.6 while a lot of money, it was only a 2 year extension. His contract runs through 2022 now.

But the overall point is that it's ridiculous how much money they are paying the top coaches, and Jimbo getting a 10 year deal that is guaranteed. So if he's persona non gratas after 4 or 5 years...well what's that buyout going to look like?
