He's going to take the wrestling scholarship and will wrestle for Huntingdon College down in Montgomery. He's really excited. There's going to be a signing day event for Carson at Decatur as soon as I find a way to cough up the enrollment deposit. Needless to say, he's pretty excited. He's still going to do the Marine Corps Reserves as well. It's DIII so we're responsible for the bulk of the tuition and sadly this school doesn't 'stack' scholarships because Carson would qualify for several scholarships. But anyway, he's made his call and I'll be a Huntingdon Hawk for the next 4 years.
Corey, Titus is about 25 miles north of the Huntingdon campus. My nephew played baseball there about 25 years ago.
Corey, may be a struggle for you financially, but it i†will be worth the investment. Good luck to Carson and his new adventure.
Congratulations to Carson. I hope he has a great 4 years. I looked at the campus online and it's really a beautiful school.
  I see that our Attorney General, Jeff Sessions, is a graduate of Huntingdon College. I really like this choice. The combination of a small college and the Marine Corp is perfect. All he needs now is to marry a rich girl who's daddy owns a liquor store...
Congrats to Carson and to his dad. In reviewing the reviews af the school, it sounds like a very good school where, in contrast to the large state schools, students are actually taught by professers rather than grad student interns. My best wishes to your son.
thanks guys. Some things that I liked: -By entering this year, it's the last year of their "locked tuition" program, meaning the tuition he pays this year won't raise in his 4 years at Huntingdon. -It's one of those small prestigious schools with an interesting history and alumni locally. He'll be getting taught by PhD's and the class size is reasonable. -The coaching staff is very close with the players. It's a relatively new program and they are showing an upward trajectory. -The wild card in this was Spring Hill, the oldest Catholic school in the South. They pursued Carson very hard lately, but the problem is that they didn't have football or wrestling. I don't know if he would have attended Spring Hill, but they certainly held his interest.
Thanks Tim! I'm holding off any congrats for myself until he completes his 4 year journey in college.
The streets surrounding the college are almost all named for Zelda Fitzgerald in one way or the other. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zelda_Fitzgerald
Montgomery is an old city. Much older than Birmingham and Huntingdon is in one of the older sections of Montgomery, surrounded by nice older neighborhoods. There are some not so nice neighborhoods close but that is the case in a lot of places. Huntingdon has a very good reputation.
  Carson wants to be a writer or journalist and I'm beginning to suspect that he picked a very good college to learn that...
