Tim's sleeping..... Irish picked up Sachse TX 4 star DT Hunter Spears. Nice pickup. I liked this quote.
Notre Dame <t>Well I may have been sleeping but landing 4 star Defensive Tackles like this kid has made me awake fast! This is a great pick-up got the Irish at a position we seem to always have trouble recruiting to. Nice that he already had a Alabama offer and picked ND instead.😁</t>
I am reading a lot of positive stuff on a couple of our top targets on the OL, both Quinn Carroll and John Olmstead both of them have been crystal balled to the Irish...hopefully before May. Irish Hockey got back on track tonight with 6-3 pummeling of Michigan State. Would be nice to sweep them to finish the season and go into the B1G tourney on a little bit of a roll.
Irish men beat Wake Forrest. I watched a lot of the 2nd half and while a win is a win and they had to show some grit late in the 2nd half to overcome an 8 or 9 point lead by WF, it wasn't a great game by them. But hey a win is a win and they had to comeback on the road to get that win. Bonzie did not play, some had hoped he'd be back for this game, but from what Brey has said I won't be surprised if he doesn't play another game. Women play NC State tomorrow in their Sr. Day game. Irish men play Pitt in their Sr. Day game next Wed, then finish on the road vs UVA.
Irish Baseball is in San Antonio for their annual Irish Classic. They split a double header yesterday beating St. Louis and losing to Incarnate Word a local San Antonio College. They beat Purdue today.
Irish women handled NC State easily in their Sr. Day game. Next up the ACC tournament. They are ACC regular season co-champs tied with Louisville. It's their record 5th straight conference championship. Irish Baseball blew a 4 run lead to Purdue in the 9th to lose. Irish Softball beat St. Johns to finally get a win in their West Coast tourney having lost to Texas A&M, Auburn, San Diego State and Washington. No recruiting news.
Terry, I appreciate your weekend wrap-ups. Better than going to the ND site and searching. Tough game for baseball, but they're off to a decent start.
Has to be some concern about ND Hockey. They had a terrific run of 16 or so straight wins, then lost to Wisc and since then they are under .500 (5-6) to finish the season. They split with Mich State this past weekend, MSU is the last place team in the B1G Hockey. Right now Ohio State and Penn State are playing very well, finished the season strong. Irish will need to figure out how to regain their form or they will be quickly out of the Tournament.
From what it looks like, Bonzie Colson will start and play vs Pitt on Sr. Night. I wouldn't expect a lot of minutes from him. He gave an interview and said his foot is really 100% but the conditioning of his legs will be the issue.
Bonzie did start and play last night in the Irish win over Pitt. He played pretty well for as rusty as he must be. He almost got a double double. Matt Farrell played with a heavy heart after losing his grandfather this week. His grandad was a ND '54 graduate. Irish on to UVA this weekend, holding on to slim hope of making the NCAA. As with all teams if a couple of things had gone differently even with all the injuries they would be off the bubble. Those losses to both IU and Ball State were games they had won but didn't. They really should have beaten UNC in South Bend..but they didn't. This will be one of those what might have been seasons. Team never quit though. Really feel bad for Bonzie, he was really capable of being in the mix for Nat'l Player of the year, All-American and stuff like that.
Well I guess Kelly and crew must have found a Diamond in Cade McNamara our QB verbal for 2019. He's recently been offered by both Georgia, Alabama, USC and Michigan. I hope he sticks with the Irish.
:!:  I like this kid a lot. <iframe width="854" height="480" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/KarP3i7etMs" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media"></iframe>
When we got his verbal last summer there was a lot of ho hum, why didn't we get JT Daniels, why didn't we get this guy or that guy....he didn't generate the love that Phil Jurkovec got when he gave us his verbal. But just look at that video that JO'Co posted, he's got talent. I think people would have been more excited if he'd been 6'3-6'5 and wasn't from Reno. But he looks like a good one. In other news. Bleacher Report rates ND's 2018 schedule as the 7th toughest: If the Irish return to the national conversation, they'll have earned it. Eight opponents reached a bowl game in 2018. Notre Dame will renew its rivalry with Michigan on opening weekend, hosting the Wolverines under the lights. In the last two matchups of September, the Irish journey to Wake Forest and host Stanford. They begin October at Virginia Tech and close the month with a neutral-site meeting opposite Navy, which has forced Notre Dame into two straight one-possession games (one of which Navy won). Northwestern, Florida State and USC await the Irish during the final month. Brian Kelly's club has no margin for error
I'm really shocked at McNamara, most of what I have read is that he was really looking forward to playing at ND. I know he has sort of blown up recently and has a lot of big time offers, but I sort of thought he would stick. The only thing good is that there is a lot of time left for the Irish to find another QB. From what I gathered we haven't really been looking for a 2nd QB in the class. When Grant Gunnell backed out of A&M some thought Kelly should go after him, but I thought he should stick with McNamara. So here we go. All of our QB's have eligibility left after this year, even Wimbush. But I would still hope that we get another QB in this class. Wimbush has a year after 2018 Book has 2 years after 2018 Davis has 3 years after 2018 Jurkovec if he red shirts after for 2018 has 4 years. But will all those guys stay? If Wimbush finds the formula to be a good passer, and stays for his 5th year, will Book transfer, Avery Davis? This was Jr. Day weekend and I was hoping for a piece of good news, not this news. sigh.
This reminds me of when Blake Barnett dumped us for Alabama to tell you the truth. Didn't work out for him and he's on to his 3rd school now. Don't know where this kid is headed, but good luck to him. His twitter comments didn't leave me with a very good feeling.
Easy come, easy go. It's hard to get upset over something you never had. This kid had to look at the depth chart and asked himself what his odds were. Every QB thinks he is the best; if not you don't want him. But few have the patience to prove it while riding the pine.
