    Big night in the B12.

#8 Texas Tech and #23 and free falling lately OU with super frosh Trae Young have a must win type of game in Lubbock tonight. A must win game in Lubbock, in basketball, that sounds weird. Tech coach Chris Beard who is a Texas Alum who never played college basketball and got started as a student asst for Tom Penders back in the day, is sort of a fast rising star in college basketball. Seems like there are always a few of these guys doesn't it.

Then there is #13 KU loser of 2 out of it's last 3 games going on the road to Ames Iowa to face unranked Iowa State who beat OU in their last home game. KU is just a game behind Texas Tech in the B12 standings. So a win by OU in Lubbock and a win by KU in Ames would tie things up.

I heard national radio guys talking on XM yesterday about how KU could still end up with a #1 seed based on some particular metrics that they happen to be doing really well in.

Tech /OU did not disappoint. I watched the 2nd half and it was a great game. Tech won. OU had foul trouble and Tech handled Trae Young.

AJ brought good luck to the Huskers. The "experts" maintain that only 4 BT teams are going to the dance with MSU, Pur., and OSU locked on. So looks like M, Neb., and PSU are in a battle for that 4th spot with the Huskers having an edge by beating M by 20 in Lincoln.

I don't know who the "experts" are, but I'd be shocked if all 6 teams you mentioned are not in the field regardless of what happens in the B10 tournament

AJ, nice win for Nebraska this evening. Good second half, sorry I never saw many shots of the end zones this evening.

I looked for you, but like Don said, there weren't many shots of fans behind the baskets, and when there were shots, they were too brief to allow me to scan the fans.

And in a far less publicized game, Tennessee returned to it's winning ways when South Carolina came calling.

    Sid,

I usually follow the Bracket Matrix which compiles all of the media bracatologists into a single bracket prediction. Kind of similar to what Nate Silver does with all of the political polls.

I also hope they are wrong.

Bobda, I'm just looking at the overall records and the "eye test" quality of the conference. I see 6 teams that should be seeded at some level. IU and the teams below them, short of an improbable upset in the conference tournament, will not make it.

IMO Michigan is a shoo-in, even if they don't finish 4th.

What a year for Kentucky....they lose again for the 4th in a row and are now below .500 in the SEC. All those NBA players and nothing. Auburn looks like they are in command in the SEC.

Villanova lost again as well. I watched a lot of that game and Prividence was just on their game and Nova is usually a good 3 pt shooting team but not last night.

Penn State ambushes Ohio State in Happy Valley. I guess it was bound to happen at some point. Penn State played a super game on both offense and defense. We never seemed to develop any type of rhythm, were down as many as 30 points at one time. We had beaten every team in the conference and lost twice to Penn State this season.

Ohio State loses again to the Wolverines this afternoon. Michigan was very aggressive and played a solid game at both ends of the court. We committed too many turnovers and too many fouls. (bad combination) Congratulations Bobda! I think this win will allow Michigan to be in the Big Dance.

Bobda, today's win should assure that Michigan will be an NCAA tournament team. I also believe Nebraska and Penn State deserve to be in the tournament. People around here think IU has a chance if they close out hot, but I'm not buying it. I predict 6 Bid 10 teams in the NCAA tournament.

Penn State giving everybody all they can handle. Purdue had to play without Vince Edwards last might and gutted out a close win.

That game was quite a battle Stu. I thoroughly enjoyed watching the game. A lot of big bodies crushing each other in the paint. The game went right down to the wire.

Thanks Don! Tight exciting game. Bucks have an outstanding coach and are going to be a force in college bb in the upcoming years. The cherry to top the weekend was that we also swept the confetence champs in hockey this weekend.

Sid, hope you are right re M's chances and 6 BT teams in the tourney.

Longhorns got a big win on the road vs OU who is fading fast, Trae Young or no Trae Young.

There is talk that the B12 could get as many as 8 teams in the NCAA's, if so Longhorns have a shot. But need to finish and get a win or two in the tournament.

Villanova rebounded and beat Xavier in Cincinnati and Cincinnati lost again this time to Wichita State. Top 10 teams are losing games every week. Really a wide open tournament, no really dominant team in college basketball this year.
