Great game. Definitely the best offensive SB ever. For that matter, the most offensive yardage ever in a playoff game. Several offensive records records set, including the highest number of points by the losing team. One of the coolest trick plays by the Eagles I've ever seen at any level. Happy for Philadelphia and my Uncle Jerry that the Iggles finally brought home a Super Bowl championship.
kp, in one sense it was a factor. Both offensive lines were strong enough to prevent sacks until toward the end, when the Eagles got to Brady and forced the fumble. That play effectively sealed the win. However, as far as the tempo of the game, you are correct. The offenses carried the day, and the defenses were not a factor.
Sid, yeah there were some good throws but man, there were receivers just running around by themselves out there. I don’t watch the NFL so maybe that is normal.
Yes. I give the Pats and Brady credit for knowing how to solve pass defenses. The Eagles have one of the best in the NFL, but Brady shredded it for over 500 yards, just one of several records set in the game. If the Eagles D had not stripped him of the ball toward the end, I don't think they could have stopped him on that drive, and the Pats would have won. We'll never know. I believe Foles' almost flawless execution of the run pass option resulted in the Eagles' passing success.
Thought I'd throw this tidbit in.. Here are the 60 QBs listed as starters on the NFL play sheets arranged by state: California-14 (Kapp, Morton, Kilmer, Plunkett, Jaworski. Elway, Brady, Rogers, Kaepernick and others) Pennsylvania-9 (Namath, Unitas, Montana, Marino, Kelly, and others) Louisiana-7 (Bradshaw, Manning and Manning, Williams, Delhomme and others) New Jersey-3 (Theismann, Flacco, O'Donnell) Washington-3 (Rypien, Bledsoe, and Chandler) Bama-2 (Starr and Stabler) Georgia-2 (Tarkenton) Illinois-2 (Ken Anderson and McNabb) Indiana-2 (Griese and Grossman) Mississippi-2 (Farve and McNair) Texas-2 (Brees and Foles) Connecticut-1 (Steve Young) Iowa-1 (Warner) Kentucky-1 (Simms) Massachusetts-1 (Hasselback) Michigan-1 (Earl Morrall) New York-1 (Esiason) Okie-1 (Aikman) Utah-1 (McMahon) And Virginia-1. (Russell Wilson)
How did they determine "state"? I would expect Jaworski to either be Ohio or NY? Wazzu with two on the list. Oh, the good ol' days.
Shocker instead of being introduced as the new HC of the Colts , Josh McDaniels is staying in New England.
Both Mannings are listed as Louisiana but one went to Tennessee and the other followed his daddy's footsteps at Ole Miss.
Loved this Super Bowl game. What a great story Foles is and I am really curious as to where he ends up next season. How abut the controversy about the DB that had played 98% of the time, made the game winning interception at the goal line against Seattle and was benched for this game? Got in for one special teams play.
