Terry,
I obviously have no idea what is happening, however if Spurrier to Alabama would be one of the strangest things to happen in college football in a long, long time.

Even Spurrier doesn't have the ego big enough to hold himself up for comparison to the Bear.

I heard that Spurrier rumor here in Florida today also. I would be shocked if it's true, but I have been shocked by Spurrier before.

I have continued to have great respect for the man, but if he leaves South Carolina for another job he is making a lie out of may things he has said.

And, he took less money that he was offered at South Carolina so that they could pay the assistants more.

But like Terry, I have heard that rumor.

MCG, I don't agree that he would be afraid to hold himself up the the Bear, but I would agree that taking that job continues to be a job where you would constantly be living in the shadow of the Bear.

    Spurrier to AL??

<t>A this point in time, I can't see Spurrier going to Bama. Remember it was Spurrier and Fulmer that turned Bama in to the NCAA just a few years ago. I doubt that the AL board or Spurrier have forgotten that . If Steve were a little younger, he might consider Bama. But he is not. Money is not a big issue at this point in his life, and it is my bet he stays at USC. I think he see USC as a challenge at this point.

Plus I don't think Steve likes someone constantly looking over his shoulder. That's a "given" in the Bama HC job.

Just my humble opinion.

Go Vols,
If I were Bama I would hire Paul Johnson.

    Great pick Tailback

<t>I thought P. Johnson is a wonderful football coach. I think he'd be a great choice for anyone.

That being said. This well is poisoned. The problem isn't the football coach its the system. Its the system that hired DuBose, and Franphony. Its the system that played innocent and threw Price under the bus. Its the system that clamoured for a "Bama man" only to WHIFF on the chance at hiring Butch Davis so they can remain committed to 'their guy' only to turn around and fire his ass two weeks later for losing to Auburn.

Fire Mal Moore.

I listened to talking heads spouting off all sorts of blame about this being Shula's fault or whoever's fault...But no one ever seems to notice that the 'static' situation of mediocrity seems to stem from an administration that has overseen the real lack of leadership or greatness.

If you fired Mal Moore and cleaned up the BOT, SOS and a few others would take that job tomorrow.</t>
