Do they even allow Long pants at the Villages! I still have that picture of you and Charlie Weis somewhere. I'm glad I know people who know people!
Well the Irish flipped Luke Jones of Arkansas, he had been committed to Arkansas but with the coaching change he has thrown in with Harry Heistand and the Irish. He's been on our radar for a couple of months, I wish he'd been able to make the flip and get signed last week. But sounds like it's a pretty solid verbal. Now if they can only make the case to Petit-Frere. It will be a good OL class.
Dieon McIntosh sent home for violation of team rules. Down to 3 rbs for the game. Irish men tipoff in the ACC vs Ga Tech in a little while. Irish women handled a pesky Syracuse team at home yesterday. Jessica Sheppard is proving to be a great transfer addition to the team. Jackie Young showing that her tremendous Indiana HS career was a indication of things to come. Ladies are thin though due all the injuries.
Irish better hope they have enough players left to field a team. What a disappointing end this has been. As far as the game goes, I have no feeling for this one. Irish are a 3-3.5 underdog but I can see them winning by 20. Or losing by 20.
Same here George. The last time we played LSU I was sure that we'd get beat by 20 easy. But that team came ready to play and as potential future leaders Malik Zaire and Taurean Folston were big in that game, and even malcontent Everett Golson contributed. Sometimes these bowl games go to the team who really wants to be there, I think this year LSU really wants to be at the Citrus Bowl and we'll see a full effort from them. Our guys certainly should be motivated to finish the season strong. I do believe our leaders are very good and the team will give a good effort, whether that is enough I don't know. We need a really good game from Wimbush and the remaining WR's.
Next man up. There was a time not long ago that we’d have been giddy to have 3 good RB suit up for a game, any game. We’ll survive.
Is Gov Christie spending any time in NJ? He's been seen at a lot of ND games this year it seems like. He was at today's mens basketball game vs Ga.Tech. https://twitter.com/TheRobFranklin/status/947200488759615488
No doubt you play with the guys who are there, it's disappointing when kids do stupid things (we don't know what he did though). He wasn't likely to see the field in this game unless there were injuries to the 3 guys in front of him. So no real impact likely. Between injuries and suspensions though we are not at full strength, although LSU is missing some important players as well.
I hope we're over our "mental exhaustion." It's going to be cloudy and low 50's for the game. Fine weather for SB in Nov. but a little chilly for Orlando.
Re: Suspensions It's not the numbers as much as it is the mental aspect. It really calls into question whether these players give a damn. And whether Kelly has control. It's a major distraction. Re: Team motivation This is the big question mark that has dogged Kelly throughout his tenure. Even in the 12-0 season, when the team met up with Bama in the tunnel before the game you could see the fear in their eyes and the complete confidence in Bama. Five minutes later that game was over. Normally speaking, coming into a bowl game on a series of disciplinary suspensions and four players being coy about whether they are returning or not can not be considered a good sign. The "mental exhaustion" excuse that Kelly offered up after the November skid still hangs in the air. Can you imagine Lombardi, Landry, Hayes or Parseghian ever uttering those words? Re: Gov. Christie He was gone most of his second term. My son was offered a position on his detail but turned it down due to parenting obligations. He said it is a single guys job.Christie goes to most Cowboy home games, loves to party in Manhattan and will go anywhere in the US to give a speech or to attend a Springsteen concert. His detail is always on the road with him. Re: The Game I have decided to take ND plus the points out of stubborn loyalty. I have a confidence level of about 40% but will do my part by rooting hard. Re: Gipper's game day attire This is a hot button topic to be sure. I think he will wear long pants but The Villages does strange things to people so he may wear no pants. Place your bets.
Re: Team motivation As much of a tireless cheerleader as I am, I share George’s concern for the reasons he stated. Re: Gippers game day attire. Unfortunately, I can’t unsee that picture.
The thing about LSU is that you gotta take the wind out of them, a lot like Miami. They play high on emotion, but I'm not sure they like the grind. I'm not sure which ND team will take the field tomorrow, but they better be ready to play or they'll get it handed to them. Personally, I think our defense plays well in this game and our offense pounds out just enough to get the win.
Got an e-mail from Irish Illustrated. Five of their experts picked the final score. They ranged from 24-10 Irish to 37-12 LSU and all points in between. Nobody has a clue.
I see on several boards that Nyles Morgan has been stripped of his captaincy for this game...sheesh. Also one guy says that LSU RB Darius Guice might only play a little out of concern for his NFL status.
3-0 game, I didn't see that coming. Irish on top. LSU QB has made a lot of plays surprised they haven't scored, I guess our FG defense is world class! So does Kelly stick with Book or bring back Wimbush. I'd bring back Wimbush.
Kelly had a constant QB rotation at Cincinnati when his teams were good. It appears he's headed that direction at ND, which is not a good thing IMHO.
