Everybody has an opinion for sure, but if you'd asked me who was the top irish signee yesterday on offense I'd have never blinked and said Phil Jurkovec. But Tim Prister said it was Kevin Austin the WR. Maybe it's because Austin is likely to see the field and have an impact sooner than Jurkovec who could certainly end up not playing as a true freshman. He tabbed Derrik Allen (safety) as the best defensive player, but said Jack Lamb would more likely make a more immediate impact on defense. Braden Lenzy is going to announce/sign on Friday at his school. It'd be a kick in the nuts if he chooses anybody but the Irish. But it could happen. I keep reading that Josh Adams is likely to go to the NFL, I have mixed feelings about that, but for a RB who has struggled to stay healthy for a full season the last 2 years I can understand why not risking another year and injury esp if the NFL grade he gets back tells him he'd be a 3rd or 4th rnd draft pick. He could move up if he came back, stayed healthy and had the kind of year he had in the 1st 9 games. But that's a risk. I'm ok with Dexter Williams, Tony Jones Jr, Deion McIntosh and the new recruit Jahmir Smith (who will be an early enrollee). If somehow CJ Holmes is back, and personally since this is his first offense I think he should be given a 2nd chance, then that is a bonus. He needs to suffer some consequences for sure not sure exactly what they should be to tell you the truth. I don't like expelling him for the Spring Semester, I would rather he continue his academics and maybe be suspended from Spring Drills and be allowed back to football in the summer.
the talking heads at ESPN had him rated higher I believe. We'll know all we need to know in due time.
Hit's just keep on coming, on the other hand Mack has been a big disappointment this year. So I don't think he'll be missed. He's been wanting to go to the NFL, I wonder if he will jump now. I have read that he got an evaluation that he should stay in school, but maybe he doesn't like being in school anymore.
What is wrong with these idiots? Going to have to hold my nose to watch this stinker on New Years day.
Notre Dame <t>Well....looks like it's gonna have to be a rushing dominated game for ND like it or not.</t>
Perhaps they don't know it but Orlando isn't that bad especially this time of year. We're taking my daughter Molly ND '94 and her 2 kids to the game. 5 tix and a parking pass are not cheap. At least I'd like to see a good effort. Obviously some of the players don't want to be there.
I think you'll see the guys who have the heart to be there and the head in the right place to compete. You'll also enjoy the LSU fans. They're always so much fun.
Notre Dame <r><QUOTE><s> </e></QUOTE> From the way Kelly sounds they will both still be enrolled in school.</r>
Yeah I saw that, I do think it's the right thing to do for Holmes and maybe for Stepherson as well...although at this point I'd rather Stepherson get his academics in order and find another place to play football. Sad thing is the kid has talent and if this all finally shocks him into realization that he's throwing it all away, he might toe the line at the next stop and realize his potential as a receiver. It's happened before guys leaving under a cloud and then resurfacing some place else and doing well, Cam Newton immediately comes to mind.
OK I'm officially out of compassion for this kid. He needs to be expelled from the University. He is one stupid, irresponsible kid. http://www.wndu.com/content/news/Notre-Dames-Stepherson-charged-with-possession-of-marijuana--465969563.html
What if Sonny was the Head Coach and Clemenza was the Receivers coach. And Stepherson's first name wss Paulie. https://youtu.be/oZ0pTOiAMPg
Notre Dame <t>O.K. Time for some real GOOD news! <br/> <br/> 2018 Tigard (Ore.) receiver Braden Lenzy‍ is headed to Notre Dame…again, as the four-star prospect announced his commitment on Friday via The Players Tribune. Lenzy also signed with the Irish to make his pledge set in stone.</t>
Braden Lenzy is a great pickup for the Irish, the kid has speed and while it's maybe too much to say he's the next Will Fuller, I just hope he's not the next Kevin Stepherson!
Notre Dame <t>Well obviously now it’s over for Stepherson as far as ever playing for ND again. Sad. Hopefully he can get things together and then maybe transfer to another school. Kid has a lot of talent. Needs to get himself straightened out.</t>
You just can't make em smarter. Boy, I tell ya that Gainesville PD is ruthless. I can't wait until they wrap up their Snowcation in South Bend.
Braden Lenzy wrote an article on his recruitment. It's good read, also it's sad to read that he experienced such negative reactions from some ND fans after he backed out of his verbal for Oregon. https://www.theplayerstribune.com/braden-lenzy-college-announcement/
I've read the letter. He's a pretty exceptional young man. I also felt as you did re: the hate mail. What kind of brain does a person have that triggers such horrible vitriol when a kid changes his mind? It shows that there are dangerous people in the Notre Dame camp, just like in other programs. I sure wish we could find a way to weed them out. Unfortunately, it's a sad fact of life in this social media age.
